Considering the source (Yahoo News), the reporter's obviously got his knives out for Republicans in general. Still, this seems a little odd.

quote:
Pence Support For Election Deniers Raises Question Of Where GOP Stands On 2020 Lies (sic - IC)
Tom LoBianco, 10/13/22, Yahoo News

As he lines up a possible bid for the White House in 2024, former Vice President Mike Pence is campaigning with the strangest of political bedfellows, throwing his name and his money behind candidates who supported the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection that put the Indiana Republican's life in danger.

On Wednesday, Pence raised money for a former aide now running for Indiana's secretary of state, who called the 2020 election a "sca". On Thursday, Pence will headline a fundraiser for one of the fake electors enlisted by Donald Trump and his allies in Georgia. And Pence has recently given is endorsement to top Republican candidates in New Hampshire and Arizona, despite their prior support for Trump's 2020 election lie. ( again, sic - IC)

To Pence's critics, the former vice president is stunningly craven to flirt with an issue that almost got him killed on Jan. 6. But to his supporters, the longtime Republican is deftly navigating the reality of the current Republicans Party, split between multiple factions, and keeping the party from going completely off the rails.

Well, OK, but maybe he's getting too cute by half? Snip...
quote:
Penve's top aides and advisers, including Short, provided House investigators many of their most stunning findings in the historic probe. But Pence, despite teasing a possible interview with the panel, looks likely to avoid providing any information himself.

Nevertheless, sez the reporter, Pence' usual approach is to simply endorse the Republicans most likely to win, regardless of where they stand on the Jan. 6 "narrative".

Well, I'm not sure what Pence is doing, even if I think he's simply disappeared up his own butt, and I don't see the wisdom in taking Yahoo News' word for anything, so I figured I'd ask here -

Where is Pence' head at, and is he actually going to get anywhere in the 2024 election with both Trump and De Santis being so much more prominent among Republicans than Pence is these days?

Every minute he spends either thinking about or actively attempting to get a Republican nomination for president is wasted time and time he will never get back.

He has no path to win a nomination and even less of a path to win a general election if he were to somehow get nominated. He has pissed off nearly every faction of the electorate, from Trump supporters who think he's a traitor to leftists who think he didn't do enough to undermine Trump. He's wasting his time.

I wouldn't want Pence's endorsement unless I were a Dem. Around here I see plenty of old Trump Pence banners with Pence's name crossed with duct tape. He won't peel away any Trump supporters. And if Trump ever comes out and really slams Pence in public, he'll only get support from the media, sort of like McCain.

Don’t you love this new bullshit the Democrats have made up?

“Election Deniers”

Weren’t they election deniers for 4 straight years and we were all told that Trump was illegitimate, a Russian asset, illegally elected?

^^^ A lot of people lost track during the Russia Russia Russia investigation, and the Witch Hunt Committee closed down today with an all-too-obvious whimper rather than a bang. Maybe we ought to thank them for the chance to point out - during an election - that Mueller spent three years and millions of dollars only to have to admit to Schifferbrains (in open committee, no less) that there was never any evidence of collusion.

That's pretty much how I saw it. Maybe he thinks there's a hidden reserve of Never Trumpers just waiting to leap out of the bushes and vote?

Mike Pence doesn't understand that his political career is over. He just needs to write a book and ride off into the sunset.

More than once since moving to the Phoenix area, I've seen a "Trump - Pence" sign with Pence's name either X'ed out or with a line through it. One at a gun shop had "Fuck" written in before Pence's name.

I don't think he's going to get anywhere with Trump voters.

It's a pretty high bar but Yahoo News may be the most subversive, ugly and openly hostile of the hard left news sources.

Roll Eyes... Yeah... sure.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Yeah, Mike Pence stood about as much chance of being killed on January 6th as I stand walking out to my mailbox. Roll Eyes

I don't mind that he's out campaigning for Trump supporters like Blake Masters in AZ. It's not bad for the candidate.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Once upon a time, he was sold as a straight arrow. Then he started behaving more and more like Mitch McConnell. I don't believe in blind faith as a strategy and I don't think Presidents are served (well) by yes-men. It seems to me, though, that if a guy gets as high up as the vice presidency and is still as ambivalent about the President's policies as Pence was about Trump's, then that's probably a bad sign.

Mike Pence, in my opinion, no longer exists. As Gunny Hartman would put, he’s a puke. He is the lowest form of life on earth. He’s not even a human f***ing being. He’s an unorganized, grab-astic piece of amphibian shit!

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24
