This is the officer's fifth officer-involved shooting, four of which have been deadly. This happened 12/29/20. Watch for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFWR73R9G3E&t=116s Keep in mind this is my opinion and others may have different views on this. _______________ Mind. Over. Matter.

Custom milled slide for sure on the cops gun, odd on a police issued firearm. I can't make out any type of threat, especially from the initial distance he started slinging lead, I could barely make out the guys location in the shade. How do you make a positive ID at that range in only a few seconds? If he was pointing a 12ga it would be different, but this looks bad to me. ---------- “Nobody can ever take your integrity away from you. Only you can give up your integrity.” H. Well at least the title of your thread isn't set to sway people's opinion before even watching the video... Here's the link to the video from the beginning instead of in the middle, after the shooting like you linked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFWR73R9G3E ________________________________________________

Not custom milled, it's an X5. Which strikes me odd that they would approve it. I will say, if the guy could shoot, 50 yard shots are easy with that pistol. "You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality." Ayn Rand

Who the fuck is John Corriea? He spends so much time speculating on everything he doesn't know I don't know why anyone would bother to listen to him? Who knows if the shooting was good or bad but let the investigation happen before everyone gets all pissed off at what happened or didn't happen.

My brother is a retired cop and he got to choose his own pistol. Basically it had to be of the approved caliber, semi-auto and loaded with approved ammo. Other than that it was open to personal choices. Can't comment on murdering the civilian. It appears to be what is known as a “tactical reload.” It’s performed when someone has fired a number of rounds and then wants to have a fully-loaded gun, but without discarding the ammunition in the magazine in the gun. The officer performed the maneuver as it’s usually taught to be performed, and was therefore somewhat unusual based on my experience. Many officers are taught the technique, but most of the ones I’ve had do it don’t do it correctly, and most wouldn’t even think to do it. I’m not going to listen to the narrator’s opinions on the incident, but some of my own thoughts. Five prior shootings? As Harry Callahan put it, “Nothing wrong with shooting as long as the right people get shot.” Just because a particular officer finds himself in situations that demand shooting to defend himself or others proves nothing. Some officers try to get out of “the baddest part of town” as soon as they can in their careers, others don’t. If four of the five were fatal, that’s one indication that the officer is skilled at shooting, and that’s probably why he had an unusual gun. He probably shoots well and wanted a good gun to shoot. The magazine exchange (as I prefer to call the maneuver) plus his tactical sense of moving to cover by the tree are a couple of more indications that he’s smarter and more competent in such situations than most LEOs. He was also more calm than most would be in such a situation. As for the justification, I’m glad I wouldn’t be sitting on a review board or jury, but the things in his favor were the subject’s prior threats against the police, the sister’s report that he had a gun, and then his acts when confronted by the officer. It’s about impossible to see what he was doing immediately before the first shots were fired, but the second series were fired after he first raised his hands and then lowered his right hand and appeared to point it at the officer. Was that justification for the second shots? It depends upon what the officer perceived the threat to be. And keep in mind that body camera footage is often not good at providing a clear picture of what the officer perceived. Such cameras have very wide angle lenses and distort the viewing perspective. They make distant objects seem much farther away than they actually are, and therefore reduce their apparent size. Just because we didn’t see anything in the video that resembled a weapon doesn’t mean the officer didn’t see something. Were I an investigator involved with the case, I would, as I always do, withhold judgment about what happened and whether the shooting was justified until I … well, … investigated. ► 6.4/93.6 “It is peace for our time.” — Neville the Appeaser

The video in the OP starts after the shooting. He had already fired quite a few shots at that point. It was confusing to me at first too until I realized he had already discharged his weapon and was performing a tactical reload. ~Alan Acta Non Verba NRA Life Member (Patron) God, Family, Guns, Country Men will fight and die to protect women... because women protect everything else. ~Andrew Klavan

He’s a self proclaimed expert, he’s taken some firearm courses and claims to have watched and examined over 10000 shooting videos. I think he was a navy medic, the guy gets on my nerves but he comes up with some good videos if you can ignore his diarrhea of the mouth. I can never fathom why people follow those with no real world experience and this guy doesn’t have any. There’s too many guys with real experience to follow guys like this.
