Early versions of mincemeat pie DID contain meat.

I’m talking like going back 500+ years

quote:

The early mince pie was known by several names, including "mutton pie", "shrid pie" and "Christmas pie". Typically its ingredients were a mixture of minced meat, suet, a range of fruits, and spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Served around Christmas, the savoury Christmas pie (as it became known) was associated with supposed Catholic "idolatry" and during the English Civil War was frowned on by the Puritan authorities. Nevertheless, the tradition of eating Christmas pie in December continued through to the Victorian era

Mince Pie

My grandmother used to use the rendered deer fat from the roasting pan when she made a batch of minced pie filling...and it makes a significant difference in flavor of the end product. God, my mouth is watering just remembering how good those pies were.

The reason buffalos are so rare is because so many people hunted them for their wings.

Reminds me of my junior high cafeteria, which once a week served "chicken rings". (Basically chicken nuggets in the shape of little donuts.)

Cue tons of teenage jokes about which part of the chicken the rings came from. Commonly referred to as "chicken assholes" or just "chicken holes".

I've never seen a Matzo in the wild, but their balls are tasty. Maybe they're farm raised, I dunno.
