Does long pants stop the problem? If yes, then it's tiny flying insects. If no, then probably fleas or chiggers. Chiggers would be less likely if you were going straight from the house to the porch and getting bitten, I think. I believe they like to hang out in grass/ground cover/plants, and grab onto passersby, whereas a flea can wait on a hard surface and jump on you. |

| we have them sometimes on our back deck small as in tiny beetle looking things when you can see them, we have a big umbrella on the deck, and use a fan, as well as one of those OFF type smoke coils (Walmart sells a cheaper version that works as well)
