How in the world is this legal? Not releasing tax returns can allow a STATE to keep a PRESIDENT off of a PRESIDENTIAL election ballot?

TRENTON, N.J. — President Donald Trump could miss out on being on the 2020 ballot in New Jersey if he doesn’t disclose his tax returns under a bill now advancing.

The Democratic-led state Senate passed legislation Thursday inspired by the Republican president’s failure to disclose his tax returns.

The measure requires presidential and vice presidential candidates to release five years of federal tax returns to appear on the state’s ballot.

Trump broke with decades of tradition by refusing to release his income tax filings during his 2016 campaign. He said it was because he is being audited.

Democrats have used the issue to raise questions about what might be in the documents.

The bill goes to the Democratic-led Assembly. If the measure is passes there, it would head to Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie previously vetoed the legislation.

The libs are bound and determined to start a civil war.

I wonder if they would require that anyone running for office in NJ would have to release their tax records.

I'm going to write my Utah congressmen and suggest that they make it a requirement that all Presidential candidates must have worked in the private sector sometime in the last ten years in order to be on the ballot. How'd that be? I'm sure that might eliminate every dem candidate as I don't think a single one of them hasn't been on a government's payroll since, well ever.

Trump doesn't need NJ to win anyway.

I cannot wait to see what happens if that makes it to the governors desk.

New Jersey went for Hillary 55.5% to President Trump 41.35% so they probably aren't going to support President Trump in 2020 anyway and no it's not legal.

If EVERY member of an elected office, local, state and federal, shows their tax returns...I'll show you mine.

While your at it, make it mandatory that any person running for office or holding office must make their tax returns public for the preceding year.

Per Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, "Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors,..."

If the New Jersey State Legislature frames this bill in such a way that it ties back to how electors are appointed, then might just pass judicial review.
