I had a 2017 KLR650.
NC requires yearly safety inspections prior to registration.
I had a rare weekday off work so I was scrambling trying to find a place to do same-day inspection so I could go directly to the DMV after.

Called up a local shop and they said they could squeeze me in after they heard what I was trying to do.
They didn't pass me due to an issue on the KLR - but said once I got that fixed I could come back and get credit for the failed inspection.

Prior to this whole event I'd kinda been thinking about trading the KLR in for a cruiser of some kind.
The place where I went for the inspection was an Indian dealership.
I'd never heard of Indian before.... but the bikes at least looked pretty nice.

I went home then and did some research on the company.

Then a few days later....
This happened:

EDIT: Ugh I forgot this site is SSL now.
You can right click the dead pic link and "open in new tab" or something to see the pics.

Edit #2:
Yay got SSL working on my web server Smile

Edit #3:
Adjusted the picture size. Holy smokes they were huge!

Whoa! That is beautiful. What was the issue with the KLR?

Congrats. If you want to go on the trails might want to let a little air out of the tires Wink

An Indian Scout in that cool blue color might be in my future

And I have a 2000 KLR650 I recently resurrected from a 10 year+ slumber in storage. I still have some gremlins to work out, but I love that bike.

Thanks all.

This is a huge step up from my previous bikes.

My bike history:

Buell Blast (500cc)
Harley Sportster (883cc)
KLR 650 (650cc)
Indian Super Chief (1800cc)

This thing is almost 3 times as powerful as my strongest previous bike.
I hit the throttle and it just GOES.
Is a way more comfy ride than the KLR that's for damn sure.
I'll be taking it out again tomorrow to drive to Raleigh.

Question asked above on what was wrong with the KLR...
multiple things.
the thing they failed it on was a bald rear tire.

That is nice. I have a 2010 Victory Kingpin. The Indian appears to have borrowed from the Victory design.

Both owned by Polaris, IIRC. Victory shuttered in favor of Indian.
My father in law has an 01 Scout & a 09 (I think) Victory CC Tour.

That's a beautiful bike!

IMO, Indian is best for craftsmanship. They build them with care - and it shows.

Enjoy the ride.
