Although the current crisis has little to do with atomic bombs, the sentiment behind it is worth considering.

CS Lewis quote

The first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb, when it comes, find us doing sensible and human things -- praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts -- not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs.

C.S. Lewis

Too many easily manipulated and frightened sheep. The enemies are watching and have found an easy way to bring the system to its knees. If folks don't snap out of it soon, we are doomed. It really sickens me.

Another thought to consider:

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

I'm breaking out the "quote" I had folded up inside my helmet and pulled out as I sat inside a bunker in full MOPP 4 gear while Saddum launched 22 SCUD missiles at my airbase on March 20, 2003:

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Absolutely. Too many folks let the lamestream media tell them what to think and how to feel.

Another great C.S. Lewis quote is applicable for these folks:

"We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful."

What this really shows you is exactly how much worse it would be if there was a REAL disaster (Nuke / EMP / Electric outage / etc).

Indeed.

The one thing that's always in the back of my mind (whether reasonable or not) is the EMP scenario. It's the #1 reason I ALWAYS carry. This is a pretty low-crime area but if I'm away from home and get stranded by an EMP, I'm going to start walking home to take care of my family and anybody that interferes with that goal is not going to be happy with the results.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

PHPaul - If you haven’t read the book yet, you just described the basis of the story - the book is called “Going Home” by A. American

It does provoke some thought.

Maybe this will motivate people to better prepare for if/when the REAL ugly hits.

CS Lewis also stated we were sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented. Death itself is a certainty. Act accordingly.
