Just curious. Been riding since 1971 and got to the point a few yeas ago that my hands couldn't take it any more. Think Pink Floyd and Comfortably Numb. Yep,two balloons and all. Decided to try a Ryker last summer. Not having to worry about a tip over and all that goes with it was appealng. If my hands objected, not out to much cash. Much to my surprise, hands are no longer an issue. Having fun again in the breeze has been great. Just need weather to hurry up.

I would have bought one but the dealership is too far away. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I'm fortunate. Have a couple dealers within about 45 minutes.

I test ride one and found them odd feeling. There are lots of people riding them. The local dealer we have for them Is always backed up on maintenance. " The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State" Art 1 Sec 32 Indiana State Constitution YAT-YAS

I found getting in one not too bad. Getting out of one, not so enjoyable.

Not my cup of tea so long as I'm healthy enough mentally and physically to manage on two wheels but the few people I've met that own Can Am's seem to really love them. They're not motorcycles so you can't judge them as motorcycles but if you judge them based on what they're designed to do they're pretty fun/competent 3 wheelers.

Having numb feet and reduced strength as I get older, the security of three wheels helps. They are very different in the handling. Wouldnt want to do long distance on one,but for a couple hours and short rides, ill take the tradeoff.

Hopefully they're improved on ergonomics. I recall sitting on a CA Spyder in a showroom & was immediately put off on the body position. Upper body was very upright, cruiser-ish. Lower body was tucked up like a sport bike. The Ryker looks better than the bigger touring Spyders. The Enemy's gate is down.

They are interesting, almost a snowmobile on wheels look. Not there yet, neighbor bought one, sold it and went back to a HD Trike, never asked him why. If it keeps you happy and in the wind it's a great thing.... I want a Boss Hoss V8 Trike when I hit that stage..

I'd give one a trial, but for my $$, I'm buying a motorcycle or a sports car, skipping the 3-wheeler The Enemy's gate is down.

Still have a Mean Streak for occasional rides, but it bothers my hands after a few miles. The Rykers handlebars and footpegs are adjustable.

Look at changing the grips for some better insulated or even the bars, a change in either can help with the numbing

I put different grips on the Kawasaki. No help. Carol tunnel and arthritis doesn't help. Can am is an inline triple versus the vtwin. Vibration impulses is what I'm going with!

I bought a pair of Tommy Copper compression gloves and they really extended my riding career, I still experience minor arthritis pain when riding but nothing like I was before I started wearing the Tommy Copper gloves. They're less than 20 bucks a pop so give them a try and see if they work for you.

Just my experience and opinion FWIW. Probably 6-7 years ago I was riding my Suzuki DR650 in Arizona when I met a nice fellow on a Can Am Spyder which seems like a little larger, manual shifting version of the Ryker. He insisted I ride it so we switched for almost an hour because he didn't want to give my DR650 back. However I really wanted it back almost as soon as I rode the Spyder for a couple miles. We were on 2-lane paved roads. I found I was constantly having to make steering corrections I think from the front wheels straddling the crown in the center of the lane while the rear wheel was tracking alternately to either side of the crown. Having 3 different tracks, vs a motorcycle's 1 or even car's 2, it was all but impossible to miss potholes, breaks in the pavement, etc. Of course they don't lean like a bike. Think of a sports car without a drivers seat instead there was just a stool bolted down that you sat on. Now imagine your upper body being flung outward on every corner w/o a bolstered car seat to lean back on to hold you in place. So to minimize that discomfort you have to physically lean your body way over toward the inside of every corner. It was a lot of work compared to riding a motorcycle that leans through the corners for you. You're out in the open there's no protection from extreme heat, rain, or cold.... so all the negatives of riding a motorcycle w/o any of the advantages. My thought then and I still feel this way, before going to a Can Am I'd far rather have a Miata or some other convertible sports car. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Ridewv, those.observations are certainly correct as to the handling. Its just a totally different feel than 2 wheels. Certainly don't plan any marathon rides. Distance is much less tiring on 2 wheels. Oh, the wife has a Miata. Can't recommend them enough. Options are great!

I guess one could be fun for shorter rides. Have you considered a scooter? With their low center of gravity, automatic transmission, step through mount and dismount, simple twist and go, there's nothing easier to ride. They even shield a lot of road dirt and light rain off you. 250-400 is the sweet spot having plenty of power for highway travel yet not having too much weight and and bulk. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I’ve got a 22 Rally 900 and it’s been a ton of fun. It was a great first step back into bikes. Recently took a 2 wheel class and will be keeping the Ryker for my wife and buying a Triumph. I considered scooters and smaller road bikes. Physically, i am plenty capable. I generally keep bikes a long time, so was looking to be able in a few years as well. In all honesty, i had no idea that my hands would be this much better or i probably would have went 2 wheels. No regrets tho. May still consider something. Just not a v.twin.
