The Toyota Highlander SE-AWD model 2019. A bit of reference, a family member went to Australia for a year and left in my care their Highlander which I would drive one day a week. Before that I had no experience what so ever with Toyota. So on their return they picked up their vehicle. Two plus years passes, we decide its time for a new vehicle to supplement our 2007 Chevy pickup truck. December 06 0f 2019 we go to a Chevy dealer no one seemed interested in us as customers so what the heck we went to a Toyota Dealer and drove home that day with previously mentioned 2019 Highlander.

To date we have just under 6000 miles on it. I've read reviews on line which are for the most part positive but is there any thing mechanical that could be problematic over an extended time period of ownership of this series vehicle?

I have had a 2013, 2017 and now a 2020 highlander and none of them had any issues. The 2020 offers some pretty cool gadgets if you are into technology. My mom has a 2012 highlander and has zero issues. Sister in law has a 2016 and another friend has a 2018 and no issues. You can never go wrong with a Toyota. Just keep up with the maintenance. In my area they are offering something like two years maintenance or 36000 miles on used Toyota vehicles.

We have the 2019 limited platinum highlander and love it. I have a truck, but every time we take her highlander I am very impressed and happy with our purchase.

We have a 2019 limited platinum Highlander as well. Not a lot of miles on it so far (still under 20K). If it's anything like the Camrys or the Corolla we have in the family, I expect zero issues.

Does yours have the Bluetooth phone echo problem? We have two in our fleet of company vehicles and both have this problem. The person that you are talking to using the Bluetooth in the Toyota hears an echo on their end. I didn’t know anything about it at the time of their purchase. Researching the issue leads to the discovery of a class action lawsuit against Toyota for this problem. There is no current fix. Aside from that they are great vehicles.

To those who have replied to this subject Thank You! As far as the problem with Bluetooth I'll have to check that out.

I have a 2018. My very first Toyota. More than satisfied. Have not had one issue. I average 25 mpg which I consider excellent for this big of a vehicle. I did alot of research prior to buying. The HL was rated #1 at that time and 23,000 miles later I can understand why.

congrats on your new vehicle! our highlander hit 181k miles this week....a 2015 model. it's the bomb! very happy with it!

With the 2019 Highlander we are averaging 26.7 MPH which is surprising to me considering the size of the vehicle and our terrain "Foot Hills" The V6 rated at 295HP and the 8 speed transmission appear to be a good combination. The ECO light keeps your brain housing group focused on fuel economy. The acceleration is excellent for getting on to example the interstates like 40 and 77.

@mholmes- For the echo issue make sure you have the phone volume all the way up. That is what seemed to work for me.

Bonfire, volume on the receiver on the call or the Toyota?

My parents have a highlander from 2012 or so, and it has been absolutely bulletproof.

The volume in the phone should be all the way up.

We have a 2018 XLE and it has been a great vehicle. It's made numerous trips from Orlando to Chicago and a trip from Orlando to Los Angeles. Most of the miles are highway miles on it.

I did receive a letter about possible failure of the fuel pump. It's something that will be covered by Toyota if it happens. This was a few months ago and haven't heard anything about it since.
