Any Subaru Crosstrek owners?
Just to add to my posts, since this thread has had me being more observant to how my Crosstrek performs.

I really, really like it. It steers like a dream, is smooth as silk, and looks fantastic. The high-end amenities on my fully loaded Crosstrek work flawlessy. It is roomy and has good to great gas mileage.

As for lack of power, the funny thing is, it actually has some pep and good acceleration from stop to slow/mid-speeds. But yes, no denying any pep it has is lost going from say 25-35 mph to highway speeds. This might seem counter-intuitive, but it is consistently the case. It can be a bit noisy at times, particularly when trying to accelerate, which is, as noted, not its strength.

In closing, I'd say my Crosstrek is like an ultra-high version of French vanilla ice cream. In that,it is not glamorous nor exotic. But outstanding at what it tries to be. Hope this helps.

Respectfully, you're full of shit to point where your eyes are brown.

Head gaskets.

Can you give me models and years where this a modern concern? Solved and addressed by SOA years ago.

It's inherent to the design.
The models that have this failed gasket problem are:

Impreza (from 1999 to 2011)
Forester (from 1999 to 2010)
Legacy (from 2000 to 2009)
Outback (from 2000 to 2009)
Baja (from 2003 to 2006)

Yep.

The Forester and Outback both have plenty of room. The Crosstrek was just big enough to ride in as a passenger and I could adjust the driver's seat to be able to drive it comfortably. The Impreza/WRX is a bit too small for me to ride in comfortably as a passenger, but the driver's seat has enough adjustment that I can drive it without issue (with the seat all the way down and nearly all the way back).

Then I would strongly suggest taking a hard look at the Outback and Forester. They both have hatchback cargo areas like the Crosstrek, and similar fuel economy to the Crosstrek, but both have noticeably more power and more interior space and cargo space than the Crosstrek.

The Forester feels more like driving a SUV. The Outback feels more like driving a car. Try them both and see which you prefer.

Well, I fit in it great, and I'm r0gue too! Smile

I think we might be getting into gray areas about how much of that 6-2 is torso and how much is inseam... tends to make a difference in how comfortable we are. I have longer legs, so head room is less an issue than having enough rearward seat travel. I have my seat against the cab wall in my regular cab truck, further back in extended cabs, but the height has never been an issue in cars or trucks.

As I understand it the head gasket issue is *mostly* an older issue that has been resolved, however, it apparently remains a bit of an issue on their turbo charged engines. The issue can arise especially on older engines.

I recommend going to the magazine rack at the local store and getting Consumer Reports. Get the one on new cars or used car guide (depending on what you plan to get) and use that as gospel.
