The Hawaii flag bothers me...Why is there a British reference on it when Hawaii was never part of Britain?

Never gonna happen. This was flown for a brief time after MS withdrew from the Union, so that claim will get thrown back into the mix and this will be nixed. There was one I saw that was a plain white flag with a magnolia, they could add our motto to that and call it good (if they only would).

My prediction? They will dilute the options to the point that nothing gets a majority, then offer up the current/recently removed flag as an option and the populace in favor of a change will split their votes between several options, with the traditionalists voting for the old flag and putting it back on top. The whole thing smells.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Mosquito Flag is no more.

According to the flag commission, the Mosquito Flag advanced to the second round of the flag selection due to a typo in a list of flag numbers submitted by one commissioner.

The commissioner has since requested that the flag be removed from the Round Two gallery and MDAH says they have complied.

Many people wondered how the Mosquito Flag, which bore a very similar design as the Hospitality Flag, was chosen yet the Hospitality Flag was left behind.

Maybe a high school kid was in charge of the website!

Nobody here, let alone an old furriner like me, needs a reminder of the words of the 'Pledge of Allegiance', but it seems to me that some folks do -

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God,, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,"
