The funniest thing about this study is how much it seems to bother some people who weren’t Marines. Razz Big Grin

I question the validity of the survey.

I know for a fact that survey questions were marked in fountain pen by the Army (especially the Artillery), ball point pen by the Air Force, pencil by the Navy, and crayon by the Marines.

I hazard to guess the many mis-marked answers due to the worn-down crayons. Big Grin

I can proudly report that I did my part from 1987-1992. Three tours in West Pac with almost two years of the three in the Plillipines.

Living in the PI breathes a whole new life into sport drinking when it costs $4 bucks to get absolutely hammered for the night. Another .28 cents worth of monkey on a stick on the stumble back to the gate and the night was complete.

I guess the follow up study should read “Marines 50x more likely to instigate a fist fight with other services while drinking” or “Marines 79 per cent more likely to get naked on public than other services”

Marines are supposed to be killers. I want them to be aggressive.

And so should you

There wouldn't be any worn down crayons as each Marine would get a fresh box since we all know that the first thing a Marine does with any writing instrument is draw a dick. Then eat the crayon and break or lose the pencil, pen, paintbrush, etc.

Nope, that report on the survey started with "This is no shit' that means it has to be true. that's the rules.

Aww, fond memories...

I spent about four months out of a six month deployment in the Philippines, crammed about three years worth of drinking into those four months though. San Miguel and Red Horse beers, Mojo, Mariposa’s fried “chicken”. Those were the days....

Nine years in the Marines (in the air wing) and the only time I came under fire was heading back to the Olongapo gate on Magsaysay about the same time some sailor got in a fight over a bar-fine and tossed a stool through the bar window before heading back to base. Bar owner cracked off a few indiscriminate rounds in the general direction and everyone scattered like roaches when the kitchen light comes on.

Balut!

What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

And why hasn't the "Pay my Bar Fine" concept caught on here?!?!

I miss the sky club on upper MEF.
Magsaysay drive will live in my mind forever.
The ginger seasame sauce on that monkey (dog) on a stick is the reason I keep a jar of it on hand always.

Graduating from level 1 & level 2 alcohol treatment (complete BS) was interesting.
Saw all the Force guys I partied with on the weekends there.
Funny that !

if I recall correctly, it was the Uncle Sam's Misguided Children that invented sex in the first place, but it was the Air Force that tried it on women....

I do not know how things are today.

In the summer of 1968 I was finishing out my four year enlistment as an E5-Sgt with 3Rd Battalion 8Th Marines At Gitmo Cuba. Base perimeter security twenty-four hours on and twenty-four hours off. To the best of my knowledge all E4 Corporals and E5 Sergeants were Viet Nam tour veterans.

There was no binge drinking over-all but there were occasional individual alcoholic's. Yes the Navy had dependents if there was rampant sexual activity out side of marriage going on it simply would not have been tolerated by the command authority.

In the Navy we knew to have a good time let Jim, Jack and the Turkey fight in ya belly. Now those where some good times. Fast forward 30 years later not one drop of alcohol touches my lips. Lol
