FINALLY- An iPhone that's waterproof!!!!! It's about time they came out with a more durable phone.

I have the iPhone 7 which is supposed to be water resistant. I've never gotten it directly wet, but if i'm washing a boat or my car and my shorts get damp, it will effect the microphone and my voice sounds garbled or people can hardly hear me for 30-60 minutes until the moisture dries out of it.

Even at the 8:30 point in the video where he puts it into the washer for a good spell is a great indicator the abuse this iPhone can take. It answers the question about "IF" you forget and leave it in your clothes if it will survive the washer! I'm impressed at the durability.

If you look at the 8:30 point in the video, the washer test pretty much beats the phone a lot more than normal daily use or abuse could normally take. But still, $1000 is a lot for a smartphone and I'd suspect the price will come down sometime in the New Year. Most I'd imagine purchase these type phones for more than just talking, they are capable of so much more these days, a virtual portable computer, and if you don't mind the price tag, they offer a lot of computing for a handheld device. There are a lot of very good choices, I considered the Pixel 2 along with the X just for the camera capabilities. I chose the X because it seamlessly integrates with my macbook for wireless data transfers of photos. I do have several Dells in the house both XPS laptops and Desktops, but I prefer the Apple stuff, just my preference. My wife prefers Android and her XPS laptop, it's just a preference. I still have my Android phone too should I swap back over some day.

My thoughts too, if Apple will stop slowing older phones then maybe I can afford this one when they are up to IPhone 12 or 13.

I've submerged my iPhone 7 in a few rivers to take some video but I won't be doing that any more. My wife's 7 took a brief slip into our spa and had water under the screen in seconds. Granted, fresh water and hot spa water are different, but I wouldn't rely on the stock protection for much. Fortunately, a few days in rice was able to get my wife's screen back to normal. Noting the phone would power on but the normal home button didn't work until we dried it out in rice.
