The left infiltrates The Smithsonian
Fox News

Much like NPR, the Left attacks United States history, blatantly distorting the truth at every turn! Naturally, the Democratic Party squeals when it is discovered, wailing and gnashing their teeth.

It truly breaks my heart that an institution such as the Smithsonian demonstrates such bias and drivel. Find out those responsible and help them find new places of Employment! FAFO!

“One placard, featured alongside a 1923 circus poster, reads: "Under the big top, circuses expressed the colonial impulse to claim dominion over the world." Another, describing early American entertainment, declares: "One of the earliest defining traits of entertainment in the United States was extraordinary violence."
The exhibit reframes iconic American characters through a critical, politically-charged lens. On The Lone Ranger, the display states: "The White title character’s relationship with Tonto resembled how the U.S. government imagined itself the world’s Lone Ranger."
Mickey Mouse, a beloved American cultural icon, is not spared either. A display for the 1928 cartoon Steamboat Willie states, "Mickey challenged authority, but not everyone was in on the joke."
It continues: "Mickey Mouse debuted as the deckhand ‘Steamboat Willie’ in 1928, amidst a rising anxiety felt by many that modern living and city life were eroding family and community ties and loosening moral codes… But the new character’s outsized facial features, white gloves, and trickster temperament were vestiges of longstanding traditions of blackface minstrelsy.”

Was that written by Damon Wayan's Oswald Bates character on In Living Color?

I hope this works… it is pulled from Apple Nes Site.

It does work!!

I also discovered that the USA contributes 28% of the United Nations budget… I plan to explore that to find out why that institution is anti-American and anti-Israel. If any members have information, I would welcome it… perhaps under a new thread.

It’s nothing new for the Smithsonian. Remember what Air & Space did to the Enola Gay until they were forced to revise the exhibit after facing loud and angry complaints from real Americans?

I wonder how they’d do without federal funding…

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

Ooh! Ooh! Pick Me!

Their budget from appropriated (e.g. taxpayer) funds is around $1 billion, with an additional half billion in Federal contracts and grants (yes, over and above their congressional appropriation). Program revenue, grants from the private sector, and gifts/donations only total around $300 million.

So unless they could do what they do with only 20% of their current budget, the answer to the above question is "Not well." Rent and utilities alone would consume half of that amount.

What the F...? Great example of curators attempting to find issues where there isn't, which seems to be the trend amongst revisionist bigots that are hired-on as historians.

Mickey replaced Oswald the Rabbit as Disney was looking for a character that could better express emotion through movement while also being easier to draw. Mickey's body is based around circles with cleaner lines and the contrast of a gloved hand made it easier for animators to show hand & finger movement while also providing contrast to whatever was in the background; Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Goofy all wear gloves for the same reason. Prior to Mickey, was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Julius the Cat who were contemporaries of Felix the Cat and Koko the Clown during the silent film era. Animation like motion pictures was in their early infancy, the movements and antics of most animated characters were based around Buster Keaton & Charlie Chaplin characters however the rough movements and limitations of black n'while imagery left much of the story-telling to body movement and expression, thus a new generation of characters like Mickey were introduced as the film medium evolved.

Yep. The Smithsonian is a museum and academic system, ran and staffed almost exclusively by academics, so it should come as no surprise that they're infested with the same progressive rot that has been festering inside all of academia as a whole for several generations now.

Academia and the arts have always been the primary strongholds of liberalism/progressivism. (Partly due to the natural leanings of many of those folks drawn towards academics and artists versus other industries and professions, and partly as a strategic move designed specifically to help ensure the wider and more rapid spread of their message.)

The Smithsonian:

One panel calls Magnum, P.I. a challenge to the "popular perceptions of Vietnam veterans as damaged misfits." A section on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show refers to it as "the go-to for viewers who mistrusted politicians and the reporting process."

Umm... Okay.
