Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

I recently saw several k9 officers on tv and the had had on a harness to attach the dog's lead to. Made it hands free.
If I recall it was a waist belt with a crossover shoulder strap with a d-ring to hook the lead to.

Anybody know what I am talking about?
What are the called and where can I find them?

Thanks

Yeah, DO NOT do that search while sitting in church. Wink

I just clip a caribiner onto my belt or the buckle on the wilderness belt if I'm wearing that. Works fine and I still have my $80.

Hunters have been doing this for years. All you need is a small loop to go around your gun belt. The ring there connects to the lead.

I use a civilian lead from Ruffwear.

Waist-worn, it makes life with the dog so easy.

I would never use that with my big dog. If he saw a deer or groundhog you could get pulled down pretty quick. With a leash your arm moves and takes up some of the force.

I got a dog last January that was 2 years old when we got him.He is a Wolf/Malamute hybrid. When I first got him, with a flat collar it was all I could do to hold him back while walking him. For the next few months I tried treats and various methods to make him stop pulling. I finally got a Sprenger prong collar and that helped a lot.but he would still pull if he saw a squirrel or groundhog.

3 weeks ago I bought a Dogtra 1900s electronic collar and trained him on that. Within a week I am now able to off leash walk him. If he needs a correction 95% of the time I can hit the page button which vibrates the collar and gets his attention. Very rarely do I have to use the shock button and if I do it is only set on level 16. It goes all the way to 127.

Walking and hiking is now a joy and the dog likes it better too. As long as I can see him he gets to explore. The range on the collar is 3/4 mile.
