Kinda takes me back to the 60's and the Apollo mission's.

Hopefully it will launch this time.

Space X has had 40 launches this year so far, NASA has been involved in 2 of those and that is the extent of their launches in 2026.

hopefully they don't scrub this one, again.

My wife and I have lived in central Florida since 1999.

Depending on the launch times in the past and if the weather was clear we would watch the launches of not only rockets but also the space shuttle from our back yard.

Even though we cant see the actual vehicle being launched we can see the flame from the engines. It is really neat especially when it is dark outside.

Back in November 2022 we had a cruise scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral. While at lunch we were talking to another guest and they told us about a launch that afternoon, we were unaware of it till they told us.

We went up to an outside area on the back of the ship to watch the launch, it was really neat to watch in person and I got some good picture's with the zoom lenses I had.

If everything goes as planned we will be in our back yard tonight to watch history being made.

We’re on the west coast. There’s a canal on my dad’s street that lines up with the Cape and people used to stand at the end of the canal to watch the Shuttle launches. This should be visible as well if the sky is clear.

Around the moon. (maybe)

Hopefully "to" the moon in 2027-2028.

6:42 PM, we can see them once they clear the tree line from the cul-de-sac in front of the home, imagine there will be plenty of folks out there to watch.

Here's the timeline of how long after it takes off until you can see it. For us it's a giant flame that we see.

We were hoping it would go while we were down there last month as I would have loved to see it, but it got pushed back. We'll be watching online tonight.

I saw an article about this and it was the first I had heard of the mission to fly around the moon. I don't understand how this is not a huge story.

I was flying from PVD to FLL and got to see a space x launch from 10A, that was cool as hell. We watch them pretty religiously from Palm Beach County. Lots of rain for us right now but its supposed to clear by then. Fingers crossed

I too am surprised it's not a bigger story. Too much other shit going on, I guess.

My oldest boy is down there with his cousin and a few other friends. They said they're about 12.5 miles from the pad.

I’m subbing today and for fun I asked students and teachers if they knew what was happening today. Maybe 1 in 20.

I admit to having had a cheat during all these years.

My stepfather joined NASA during Project Gemini as an engineer. Early in his career he was invited to a launch. Afterward, standingat the launch viewing site he looked around him and asked the question Where are the bleachers so that public can come and participate and view a launch.

After that evening he was no longer a mechanical engineer working for NASA he was the guy running public affairs for Kennedy Space Center. He spent 31 years as the Chief of Visitors Services. Almost everything you see at the Space Center he built, up to and including the Saturn V building. He is known as the Father of SUSA . . . Spaceport USA

Thanks to him, this is the closest I have been to a manned launch. This is the first night launch of Atlantis



I have been very fortunate for my access to the Space Program all the way up to including the end of Shuttle. After the Space Shuttle program was discontinued the orbiters were gifted to various places. Atlantis is actually at Kennedy Space Center right now inside of a building that's pretty cool. But it had to be decommissioned first. That meant that the orbiter had to go to a United States Air Force base.

Here is a photograph of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on the onramp to State Road 405. It is headed over to Canaveral Air Force Station now known as Canaveral Space Force Station, to where a decommissioning ceremony took place and then it was taken back the way it came to its final home at Kennedy Space Center. Thanks to my stepfather I was invited to this event and I have to admit it was pretty cool to watch a space shuttle going down a street that I drive on




In a few hours I will be standing next to my barbecue grill in my backyard waiting for SLS-2 to launch. I am exceptionally eager. Unfortunately my stepfather passed away about 14 years ago And his influence tends to fad over time so I no longer get invited to the really prime viewing locations.

I will be able to see the launch from Central Florida. Can't see the vehicle, but can see the smoke trail during day, and flame at night.

One of the cooler launches I saw was the last Starship launched from Texas. I saw the flames moving horizontally across the sky, from west to east behind my barn.

It would have been epic to name it Alice instead of Artemis.

Colt_saa, that is awesome! We got to visit the Kennedy visitor center last month...your stepdad did a great thing!
