I'm really liking this guy DeSantis

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday morning at Miami’s Freedom Tower that will require “Victims of Communism Day” to be observed in the state’s public high schools.

The bill, HB 395, mandates that public schools instruct students on the horrors of communism each year on November 7 or a preceding school day. The “Victims of Communism Day” legislation passed the Florida House and Senate unanimously earlier this year.

“We want to make sure that every year folks in Florida, but particularly our students, will learn about the evils of communism, the dictators that have led communist regimes, and the hundreds of millions of individuals who suffered and continue to suffer under the weight of this discredited ideology,” DeSantis said at a press conference.

Miami Young Republicans President Armando Ibarra and his group helped launch the “Victims of Communism Day” bill. Ibarra told The Daily Wire that his father was a political prisoner in Cuba and endured “incredible cruelty,” so this bill means more to him than simply another piece of legislation.

“When we brought the idea for the [Victims of Communism] bill to Rep. David Borrero we wanted to honor the people in our community that had suffered and the people that were lost to the evils of communism,” Ibarra said.

It’s unfortunate that it takes a governmental mandate to force teaching something that should be a part of every world history class, but it that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes.

That man continues to impress.

What is old is new again:

We were taught "Americanism versus Communism" in the 60's.

"Following the Bay of Pigs Invasion in April 1961, the 1961 Florida Legislature passed a law (233.064 (1961), Florida Statutes) mandating all junior and senior public high school students in Florida take the six-week course, Americanism vs. Communism. An educational television version of the course was also filmed and circulated to students. The course remained an educational requirement until the law was repealed in 1983 and replaced with a mandatory economics course."

More reading. The pinko GDC's didn't like it back then any more than they like the current iniative.

From the https://www.edweek.org/educati...d-war-legacy/1983/05 link.

An interesting and prescient first paragraph.

quote:
But Florida school officials say that book seems objective compared to another 1963 text--The Masks of Communism, by Dan N. Jacobs--approved for use as supplementary reading. This is the first paragraph of that book: “Today, the United States is threatened by an enemy dedicated to its destruction. That enemy is communism, whose leaders promised that in two generations or less they will ‘bury’ the American way of life and the system it represents. There can be little doubt that the men who guide the communist machine are not only convinced that this can be done, but they are determined that it will and must be done.”

He may become POTUS even IF Trump decides to run. Truth be told even thought Trump accomplished a lot despite everything that was thrown at him I think DeSantis has the political experience and expertise to actually accomplish more than Trump.

I like DeSantis more & more every day. If there were more governors like him this country would be in much better shape. Who knows? It might even be possible to deny the liberals any place to dump the illegal aliens that they are bringing into this country every day.....Fred

I don’t understand why they don’t move to a socialist paradise such as Cuba or Venezuela. To my knowledge, we do not have any laws preventing people from leaving.

We are so fortunate to have such a good leader as our governor. I believe he is an inspiration to other governors as well.

That slimy little bastard Charlie Crist is running against him for governor and is bringing shameless mudslinging to the campaign. I know Crist from years ago and let there be no mistake, Crist is a shit weasel of the first order.

DeSantis is a real deal warrior leader who is destined for great things at the state and national level, but the Democrat Socialists see him as a major threat and will do everything in their power to diminish him.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and I was in school, we were taught about different economic systems. Capitalism, Socialism, Communism and Fascism.

Beyond that, there are various systems of governance. Both Communism and Fascism economic systems tend to turn into the same type of governance.

A good article on the various types is here:
https://home.heinonline.org/bl...tems-and-ideologies/

Sadly, subjects like this are not commonly taught in schools anymore and not common knowledge either, as should be expected.

This is a good move. As pointed out above, this should already have been part of a modern history course.

There were(are) apologists aplenty for that ilk, and many were journalists/authors: Walter Duranty of the NY Times, for example. There are undoubtedly works that minimize the numbers and effects.

Hopefully they specified the text(s) to be used, to avoid the risk of local school boards or rogue individual teachers finding a slanted take on the subject, so as to fulfill the spirit but not the intent, just out of spite.

Should have included Victims of Socialism as well.

As with all commies, they are not content being commies themselves. They are Borg. They need to compel others to be Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Desantis is fucking awesome.

The left is SCARED of this man. They will do everything in their power, everything, to smear him and steal any future elections from him.

THE DNC party platform, going forward, is basically "STOP DESANTIS. AT ALL COST."

They know he will win reelection to governor in a land slide and is a front runner for the white house when he decides to run for it.

If he doesn't run for the white house, he will serve his two terms as Florida governor and then as many terms as a senator from Florida as he wishes. He would easily primary Rick Scott out of the senators race.

Because commie simps generally don’t want to put themselves into a position where they might see or be forced to live a reality doesn’t match their inculcation and or masturbatory fantasies. Far easier and safer just to simp for communism as a fellow traveler and lecture us normies on how we need to live.

We actually do, but only for, essentially, net taxpayers.

Not a crowd who'd head to a Communist Utopia, but its important to remember that, to DC, we're chattel, not citizens.
