Representing true innovation, this rapid deployment holster sports some novel features. It attaches to the light, not the gun. Which means of course you have to use a Surefire light, and not an older one; it must be a newer one with special cutouts in the bezel. On the plus side, the holster is not gun-specific, pretty much as long as you have a compatible SF light rail-mounted on.
You can holster a full-size suppressor-attached weapon, or other muzzle device. Top-mounted accessories like RDSs or even scopes are not an issue. You can select auto-activation of the light or laser on weapon-pull.
Ugly? You're using it with your Glock, and you're worried about ugly? (J/K!)
The fact that it activates the light for you is kind of cool actually
I don't have any need to carry my g17 suppressed or my 1911 suppressed with x300U mounted
But I'm also the type of idiot that wants to be able to anyway, you know, just in case
So I will probably find myself looking at one of these someday

I didn't see any retention system on that thing. Also, looks like more of an open carry rig vs concealed. I do like how you can set the light/laser to automatically activate upon drawing.
Interesting, though I don't ever see myself interested in it. . .

I think that's what the button on the body side is for.
From the link: outfitted to fit most any hand size thanks to two included release-button adapters. •Provides Level 3 retention, securing firearm with primary and secondary locking systems
I don't ever see myself buying one either but I like companies that are trying to innovate.

It is definitely not a concealed system, though they may be developing such a version.
As far as retention, this is accomplished by interior pins that engage special cutouts on the bezel and body of the weaponlight. You can make out a couple of the stainless steel pins in this pic. Lever actuators control primary and secondary retention.
Viridian has been doing this for years with ECR . I liked it when I was carrying HKs with their lights.

Sort of like an OWB retention holster version of the Raven Vanguard 3, which is a kydex IWB holster that works with any gun as long as it has a TLR-1 or X300 weaponlight attached.

Designed with your tax dollars in mind. It looks like a .MIL or .LE design.

Oh, good. I'm not the only one that thinks that price is ridiculous (add that to the cost of the specific light you would need to buy). Of course, LEO/Fed/Mil funding is a lot generous than my personal finances. . .

Thanks. I thought that might be the case.

Yep. The holster only works if you have one of the latest H-model Surefire X300/X400 weaponlights attached, which are ~$300-$900 retail.

That thing looks like a prosthetic hip. I don’t get how that almost costs $200. Pass

I personally don't care for the idea. There is no guarantee that when I draw the gun I am going to want the light. The constant on only activation of the light is also not desirable to me.

There's an Off/On lever on the side of the holster that controls whether the light is automatically activated on the draw or not.
I've never used a weapon light on any of my pistols, even those with rails.
Is the attachment of the light sufficiently secure to not be a problem, especially with a polymer framed gun like a Glock, M&P, or SigPro?
Could the light be broken off the gun with a twisting motion, or would the retention fail first?
Thanks.
