Best Home Weather Station Option aka, how to find a non-sponsored honest review
Been looking for reasonably priced "best option" home weather station and reading online reviews and recommendations but, after a paragraph or three said reviews become apparent sponsorships move the needle(s).

So, any recommendations from the hive?

Plan is to pole mount. Solar powered is preferred 9solar power to charge commonly available battery(s).

Wifi will work as will a tablet type monitoring station. Prefer the station doesn’t require batteries to operate (as opposed to backup power) and movable (not permanently located like on a wall) and easy to read / decipher

Being able to download data for historical tracking is a big plus.

Cost factors will be evaluated later and based on useabilty

So what say thee?

What to "stay away from recommendations" will likewise be gracefully appreciated

I bought a Davis Instrument Vantage Vue which gave up the ghost last year, after 15 years.
Its replacement cost is very high so I got a
WF-100SE from Radioddity.com.
It just works. The Radioddity.com weather products change frequently so I am sure that model isn’t available. Knowing what I know now I would buy it again. They look to have almost 10 different models now w different features. I have brought other gear from them with no regrets. I’d guess it is all made in China

I'd been thinking about getting one too, but I'd come to discover that through Weather Underground I can see the weather from a guy a few doors away from me. He must have set his to upload to the hive. Seems many people do, because I'm spoiled for choice on stations within 1 or 2 miles.

Just search your city, and click "Change Station" in the upper left corner to see a map and all of the stations near you. I'm getting free weather and current state temps and other data from 300' from my house. Worked for me!

We also had a Davis Instruments station which gave up the ghost about two years ago. It was a good 12 years old I'm thinking and worked well. They are quite pricey now so I replaced it with an Acurite weather station you can find HERE

It's been rock solid for two years and has more features than the old one. It collects all the data you are looking for although that is something I seldom use but sounds like it is important to you. They all have a built in solar panel of some sort but that doesn't help in the winter. That battery will need to be replaced every few years.

Ours sits on top of my detached shop/garage which is probably a good 40 yards from the house and the signal is strong and reliable. The thing you need to look for is the refresh rate of the signal. I think ours is every 6-7 seconds. As you know, all of the components are made in Asia.

I don’t if it’s helpful or not, but I stumbled across Personal Weather Station Buying Guide on the weather underground site.

Well that’s neat, but how do you pick a good one?

I appear to have 5 choices in a half mile, but looking at just the temps: 64, 67, 64, 64, 68; there seems to be some variation in equipment/installation. The 67 is 500’ from a 64.
