Indeed, as long as I didn't have to re-learn those lessons. The advantage now is I can simulate those times in my personal life as a much wiser albeit older, but healthier late boomer. The paradox is those lessons made me who I am. Making those same mistakes today would like come with bigger consequences. I also like wifi and chatting with you fine folks

I’d love a return to that era. I think the peak of humanity was probably somewhere between 1988 and 1993. Everything from music to national pride and a feeling of Community was about the best I can remember. I was born in 1979 for what it’s worth.

I was born in 63, for me, the 80s was my favorite decade. Some of the biggest highlights of my life happened during that decade. Would I go back, I want to say "Yep, you bet" but one really can't go back - only forward. But I did enjoy that decade - a lot!

The 80s and early 90s had the best music ever.

Rode my bike everywhere as a kid, never worried about crime. High school senior 1986, just got back from my 40th reunion feeling nostalgic about it all, yes I'd go back. Reagan was President, good times. I had a dorky stage driving Mom's hand me down Oldsmobile station wagon, but a few years later I had 280zx with a cassette player, stick shift and T-tops and was having fun chasing girls. I had a great time going to see live music in clubs in Dallas and Austin in the late 80s and early 90s. I remember getting a hotmail email address in 1993, but it was mostly for fun, found an email/listserve first generation hunting and gunboard. For me computers weren't yet tied to a work responsibility till the late 90s,

I got issued a work pager in about '99, they would page, I'd have to pull over at a 7-11 and call them from a pay phone. I was no longer just a worker bee, but a middle manager of a 24x7 operation and some bs disaster going on and I'd have to drop what I was doing turn around and go back to work. Got my first cell phone in 2000, certainly the dawn of a new generation at that point.

Was it the year or being young and care free?

I would consider sacrificing a homeless man to make that happen.

I mean I wouldn’t actually do it but I would consider it.

This needs to be repeated. The 80s and early 90s had phenomenal music. Everything from hair bands to yacht rock, Phil Collins and Genesis to Nirvana. Most of what I listen to is 80s and 90s music. When I’m not listening to my personal library I’m usually listening to SiriusXM 80s on 8 or 90s on 9.

My son who is in his late 20s, has told me a few times that he (and his girlfriend) is envious I spent my 20s in the 1980s. Youth culture back then was awesome - music, film, professional sports, etc. just magnificent years. Political and racial divisions did not cut as deep as today.

No, but there's a lot about those years that were much better than today's world.

America was much freer in the late 60's through mid 70's than today. The music was phenomenal, too. And cars were all unique. You could fix almost any thing yourself, from your furnace to your tv to your car. Then from the late 70's through the mid 90's I enjoyed a lot of great experiences.

But there were some real negatives in my married life in the 80's and 90's which I never want to relive.

No, I lived my life with no regrets.
Besides, it would mean not having my children or, granddaughter.
To that I say no.

But, as had a fantastic 80’s it was tough, health issues, employment issues, lifted myself out of those doldrums by sheer force of will… working 1 full time job, 2 part time jobs and managing a rental property and finishing college at night school.

Exhilarating times!

Met my wife and all time and only love at the 1980 prom.

I couldn’t have lived those times better.

Exploited every opportunity with internet development in late 80’s and found my niche.

I also graduated HS in 1981. Then college for the next few years. Then a little time in uniform, then the workforce, and still working.

First marriage was mid-80s but didn't work out; 2nd marriage started early 90s and is still going strong, with 2 adult sons now as well.

The 1980s were good - OEM females, with all the right parts in all the right places - no tats, piercings, weird hair colors. It carried over into the 1990s, but then there was some slippage into bolt-ons and other body accessorizing / modifications.

The twilight of analog and the dawn of digital in so many household and commercial things. I got my first cell phone in 1996, but it was hardwired into a Jeep Cherokee that I bought. Got my first handheld cell phone in 1998.

Same for cars - the twilight of carburetors and the dawn of electronic fuel injection. Small engines now making HP same or more than bigger engines of the past.

I wish that I had kept my pre-ban HK91 that I bought new. Probably a few other firearm things as well. Or that I had invested more into certain firearms.

I plan to teach as many skills from the 1980s / 1990s as I can to my grandkids. I feel it will be beneficial to them later in life.

Graduated HS in '81 and started college. Joined the Army in '85 and married in '87.

1st child in '92, 2nd in '94, 3rd in '96.

Would go back as long as same wife and children.

I grew up in the 70's and early 80's. Although I have many fond memories of that period I would not go back. I'm doing my best to make the years I have left the best I can for Mrs. chbibc and our family/friends, and am trying to live my best life. Every day is a gift.

We would be remiss if we didn't mention another great of the 90's, John Philip Sousa, who composed the Stars and Stripes forever in the 1890s.

That said, if I get to retain all my memories up to now, I absolutely would go back to my college years in the 90s.
