But you can't help but admire them on some level. I'm not into rodeo at all and don't follow the sport. I just happened on to this vid and figured I'd post it for the hell of it. I'm not familiar with this rider - maybe some of you are? I just found it entertaining. Makes me sore just to watch it!

We don't have any channels to see PBR anymore. It's the only professional sports I care to watch... Frown

These guys are tougher pound per pound than any other athlete out there. My bucket list includes an item to make it to Calgary Stampede to see the show one day.

Back in the 60s the Dallas Cowboys had a running back named Walt Garrison who rode bulls in the off season. Seems it always took more than one to take him down and he’d probably get a yard or two anyway.

If you get a chance to see amateur bull riding in a small venue do it. They are crazy. And those bulls are kittens compared to what the pros ride.

We have rodeos every night during the summer. When I was on stand-by as an EMT at the rodeos years ago, the bull riders were ones who chose not to go to the hospital when we highly recommended them going in to be checked after wrecks.

I went to high school in a very small town in the panhandle of Nebraska, about 20 miles south of the Pine Ridge Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation.

I had a few high school friends who were bull riders. Some even had mechanical bulls at their ranches. I know one of them eventually was semi-professional at one point.

Now theses same friends have their own kids, and a few are nationally ranked for their age divisions. A lot of traveling involved.

Another friend has an uncle who is a world famous rodeo clown. After a quick google, I found out he was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.

I can't imagine signing off on the liability wavier to let a minor child even consider this, yet they do. And the kids seem to love it.

I apologize now...

Bull riding is a dangerous sport, but much safer today than it was in the 80's and earlier. I think 1989 is when they started to require riders to wear a protective vest, and now I think riders born after a certain date have to wear helmets.

Safety has become more and more of a concern over the years.

The property next our sub division is part of the Diamond G Ranch, they raise bulls for competition. My wife walks by the back of it and came across this guy, turns out he's famous. I believe he's even been cloned!!

Oh, forgot to mention. I love the way he handles his daughter. Reminds me of the way kids were raised many years ago. I'd bet she'll grow up to be a very strong and independent young lady.

If you ever get a chance, take a spin on a mechanical bull. When someone else is on it you think it's moving in slow motion. When you get on it feels like the speed it up!

I've been on 2, lasted maybe 3 seconds each time. Never again. I don't know how those guys stay on a real one!

Yes, making a habit of pissing off large animals could certainly count as crazy.

I've known a few professional riders. One talks with a low rasp from getting a horn in the neck. Their bodies are completely beat up - but they would go back and ride in a second if they could.

They have my deepest respect.

We have high school rodeo here. Typically the bulls win well over 90% of the contests. Smile

I'll bet none of those bull riders kneel for the National Anthem.
