I need to have on me most nights. I just have a cheap box fan next to me but the noise is keeping the wife up.
Not being dumb enough to keep a pissed off wife, can anyone recommend a quiet fan that that still moves decent air? The wife isn’t opposed to wearing earplugs because I snore but the constant air rushing keeps her up. A fan on a stand would be perfect. I have no problem spending $100 or more if it solves my problem.

I just bought this to take to the boys weekly swim meets that are balls hot.
I was shocked at how much air is moves and quietly. Also took it to the 4th of July gathering the other night and it was great.

Yes, it uses Ryobi 18V tool batteries which is why I bought it but it can be plugged in as well.

They make bigger ones, however I can’t speak to how quiet the are. I will be buying the larger one for my shop.
But the little one by the bed would be perfect for your needs I believe.

We had a Hunter ceiling fan for about 15 years when it suddenly started blowing fuses and showed a dead short on the motor. Hunter refused to honor their "lifetime warranty" because we could not produce the original sales receipt. So we bought a Honeywell replacement. From all appearances, they were both built in the same factory in some low-wage country, parts are almost identical, and many of them interchangeable.

So, if you want to consider a ceiling fan, and have a place to mount it (like a ceiling room light), I'd recommend going that route. While working overhead is never comfortable, the installation procedure is pretty simple, something I think most homeowners can handle.

Retails for 60 dollars and you can get it on Amazon for 40.

DO NOT buy the version WalMart sells, which has a black casing, instead of the standard gray casing. The do not blow as hard and they fail within a few months, starting with an intermittent squeak which turns into a continuous screech in short order. No, I didn't get a dud. I bought one and it went out in a few months, as described. I bought a second one. Exact same deal. Squeak/Screech/Dead. You have been warned.

That being said, I love these fans. They produce a pleasant brown noise on the high setting, which aids in masking tinnitus; much more pleasant than a standard box fan. The lowest setting still moves air decently but is quiet. The standard version of this fan lasts 4 to 5 years of continuous use on the high setting, longer (I imagine) on lower settings.

They're pricey, but the Dyson "fans" (actually "air multipliers"... no fan blades involved) are wonderful.

Super quiet, and extremely effective.

I'm sensitive to loud fans in the bedroom. After trying a few different ones, I now have a Dyson AM03 in my bedroom and am very happy with it.

Those AM03s are discontinued, but you may be able to find them still on the secondary market. Or the newer AM07 is the replacement, and it looks like they're about $350 currently.

Or, if you want additional features like heating or air purifying, they have models that do those as well at a higher price.

If your lovely wife starts to have "flashes", You'll rue the day you wished for a fan. I had five blowing on me every night. I woke up congested every morning. As for brand of fan? Good luck!

I like many lasko products, but don't consider any of them to be quiet.

A buddy purchased a Rowenta turbo silence fan and said it's great.

But our of your price range.

Lasko Tower Fans are surprisingly quiet and provide impressive airflow for their size. I particularly like that they don't take up much floor space and make it easy to position them in an ideal location. They provide a narrow'ish column (blade?) of airflow and oscillate 90 degrees to provide a relatively wide coverage area. We have 42" Fans in living area(s) and a 36" Fan in each bedroom. In the living areas the 42" fan does just fine on the floor, but in the bedrooms (due to the mattress height) we have them on a chest or stool to elevate them a bit to maximize the effectiveness while sleeping.

Our fans are several years old and have performed quite well since we got them. I vacuum the intake & outlet grills at the end of the summer (fall?) when I put them away for the year and they are are still going strong, showing no signs failing anytime soon. I purchased the 42" fans at Home Depot and the 36" fans at Target. They're available on Amazon if you can't find them locally...Was in Home Depot today, and a mere two weeks into summer, they were already clearing the floor of everything 'summer related', and what remained was marked Clearance at 40% off!

Why not buy a ceiling fan? If you have no light fixture or outlet on the ceiling you can just add a electrical cable to the fan and run it down the side of the wall to an outlet. Those ceiling fans have long blades and are pretty quiet.

I have a ceiling fan. I also have a wife. Did I mention I have a wife. If I could figure out what a woman wants/ will tolerate/ is willing to put up with, I wouldn’t need to ask here. Therefore, I’m looking for a quiet fan.

We have used this oscilating one for the last three years. Very small footprint and widely adjustable. And I can reach it from bed with the remote.

A Dyson is what I was going to recommend. I have the one that can blow hot or cold, but I use it in my office. I NEED noise at night to help me sleep. I have a ceiling fan for the air circulation, but I use an app on my iPad to mimic the sound of a fan so I can sleep. No way I could sleep in silence.

A Dyson isn’t cheap, but they are quality and might be what you are looking for.

I had a Lasko Wind Machine similar to the one Para described for many years. It moved a lot of wind really well and relatively quietly (except louder on High) until it finally burned out one day. We’d switched to Hunter ceiling fans and a small Honeywell blowing on my wife’s face at night by then and didn’t need to replace the Wind Machine.

I had a few fans to move the air at work.

The Dysons are so quiet, I used to put my hand in front of it to see if it was working.
