Suspect could be Frontotemporal lobar dementia; subtype Primary Progressive Aphasia.
Bad news all the way around. Very heartbreaking, frustrating and difficult for the patient and their loved ones...

I've fished the river running by his place in Sun Valley. He owns half the town of Hailey and is well liked. Sad to hear this news.

This is very sad... I enjoyed a great many of his movies. I hope this condition progresses very slowly so that he can continue to enjoy life as long as possible.

And before that I remember seeing him in an episode of Miami Vice. The episode was "No Exit". It was a very good episode!

Another legendary actor! Bruce Willis, thank you for all of the years you’ve entertained us and will likely continue to entertain us, because Die Hard never gets old, all of them. I was going to mention the Miami Vice episode but beaten to the punch. Best wishes to he and his family.

I too wish him well... but you know there is a lesson here that many tend to ignore.... I did for years but now realize it:

We are going to get old and die and probably be ill for a while before we do.... the only other choice is to die young.....

Very sad news. I wasn’t a Moonlighting fan but thought he did a nice job with his character, and I was glad to see him make a successful jump to the big screen. Glad he’s had so many good roles over the years since and praying for the best for him and his family.

Bruce had a blues band and was quite talented musically. I saw him play some years back. He could really play the harmonica. Played some blues standards.

He was good. His band often played at the Mint club in Hailey. (Bruce owned it). Sometimes Steve Miller (who lived nearby) would play with him for a local benefit. But he has not owned it for several years now. That place was rocking back in the day.

I enjoy most of his movies and Moonlighting. I remember seeing him for the first time on Miami Vice as a arms dealer who would beat his wife. He was believable as a POS in that character. Then I saw him in Moonlighting and it he was totally different. Been a fan since then.

And then there's Die Hard.

I wish him the best.

Bruce Willis was born in Germany (his mother is German) but grew up in Penns Grove NJ near me. He has family locally and are well known. I took a retirement claim from his father many years ago. When he filmed a movie in Philadelphia a few years back some high school kids from the Penns Grove drama club (along with a few other locals) got work as extras. The locals who remember him growing up all say he is a great guy.

An update on one of our favorite actors, Bruce Willis. The long and short of it is he's been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a diagnosis made by none other than our own Sacramento Johnson way back in March. Good job my man. No cure, but will continue to treat symptoms in hopes that a cure will be developed soon.

edit: Source: Story

The family of Bruce Willis has announced that the actor is suffering from a form of dementia called frontotemporal dementia, or FTD for short.

In a statement shared Thursday, the 67-year-old star’s family stated that while the news “is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”

“Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research,” the statement said.

Willis’ family — including wife Emma Heming Willis, ex-wife Demi Moore and his daughters — first disclosed his diagnosis of aphasia back in 2022. They said at the time that Willis was suffering from a medical condition that was affecting his cognitive abilities and would be taking a break from acting.

“Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately,” his family’s new statement said. “We know in our hearts that – if he could today – he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, frontotemporal dementia is an “umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain are generally associated with personality, behavior and language.”

Willis’ most recent acting credit is “Detective Knight: Independence,” which was released in January 2023 and is the third installment of the thriller film series “Detective Knight.” He also has action movie “Assassin” slated for release next month.

Willis and Heming Willis share two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn. With Moore, he is father to daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

Rumer Willis is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.

Bruce has always found joy in life – and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us,” the statement added. “We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.”

Thanks for posting that, bendable. Was thinking/wondering about him a few days back.

I like the guy, in everything I have ever seen him do, from TV, movies, interviews, playing the blues.

First saw him on Moonlighting "premiere" and I was hooked.
(not that Cybil Shepard shoved in my face had anything to do with it...)

He just always seemed like a kid wearing a mansuit.

Otherwise known as a meat popsicle.
