Been looking to get another gunsmithing vise, and it’s been a while. What do you all use or like the best? I just read about Real Avid, and Tipton, but haven’t looked further yet. Any made in the US for certain? Thanks in advance. Edited: Been doing more searching and think I found the one I’ll settle with, Howard’s Total Vise, most likely the sportsman #5. I like the #6, but our setup isn’t the best for a side mount, so a top mount will work better for us. And, made in Montana. $334 approx price. This message has been edited. Last edited by: m1009,

Handgun? Long gun? Additionally, there are AR-specific designs that may be an option. A lot of the usefulness of a vise is the availability of add-ons that are designed to accommodate specific firearm models or operations. Most of these are vise model independent, but this might also be a factor. The Tipton works well for me for long guns, for pistols I generally use a simple bench block for driving pins, etc.

Thank you, we’ve done some barrel replacing, so being able to torque one and the vise being able to handle that. Like the ability to have it at any angle too. We’ve got a standard bench vise now, just looking for a bit more flexibility in what we can use it on. So, mainly long guns, ar style.
