Johnny 3eagles2023 US Passport renewal times
Have decreased so far this year. Originally projected 11 to 13 weeks.
We mailed our on April 17, received today June 16. I expected them in mid July.

Russ59We paid for the expedited service and still not here. It will be nine weeks on Monday 6/19. My wife did get a UPS tracking email and is wondering if that may be it finally.

StlheadPassports do not come UPS, USPS only.

corsairI sent in my renewal in early January, and received the new one in early-March, no expedited since I was planning to travel in the Fall. About that time as travel season was heating up, US State Dept had announced that wait times had been extended from 6-8 weeks to 12-15 weeks. News channels then started running various personal stories of people waiting longer than expected to expedite their passport. I imagine new applicants take longer than renewals.
Moral of the story, get it done WELL before your trip or, even if you don't have plans, get one.

Yes, my wife thought that odd. She misattributed the UPS notification for another item.
The "expedited" renewal passport arrived this morning, just 3 days shy of 9 weeks.

That don't sound expedited. My son's recently took about 6 weeks. Not expedited.

2BobTannerI submitted my on-line renewal application on January 18, 2023; my then current Passport was to expire in March 2023.
After NO ACTION for FOUR (4) MONTHS, I submitted a “help request” to my Congressman on May 23, 2023.
Amazingly, I have now received my Passport booklet on June 2, 2023; Booklet Passport has issue date of May 26, 2023; wallet-size Passport Card received June 5, 2023.
Coincidence on timing, wouldn’t you say?

911BossI am also waiting, sent ours in mid-May, they received them on May 22.
They were expired (2021), hopefully that doesn’t delay anything

StorminNorminI do my best to stay on top of when things like Passports, Global Entry, Driver License, License to Carry, etc all expire and when they can be renewed. I renew as soon as possible to avoid any issues of any expiring. Never had a problem yet.

CopefreeWe submitted for our kids’ passports and the applications are showing as received on 4/25 — the tracker still shows as ‘processing’. Hoping we’ll have them by mid-July.
I did the online passport renewal, for my own passport, on 1/3/23 and didn’t get my renewed passport until mid-April. I think they’ve since shut down the online option … it was a complete mess.

Fly-SigWe just came home last night from overseas. Passport Control just used facial recognition. We didn't have to even show our passports and the agent knew our names. Kind of scary the way big data is integrated.
I hear a variety of renewal timelines from family and former coworkers. A brother-in-law missed a cruise in March when his expedited renewal took 14 weeks. Then I'll hear of less than amonth from someone else.

SigmundA few months ago Mrs Sigmund's renewal took 6.5 weeks with the expedited service.

400mI’ve never had a passport but I’ll need one next year. Does it take longer if you’ve never had one before?

In general, yes but nothing dramatic, figure 5-7 weeks normally.
Right now its peak travel season and a ton of people who've waited until the last minute have gummed up the system, combined with govt inefficiencies and the wait times are taking a lot longer than usual.
Submit your application packet by the Fall, and you should have it in-time.

vulrathI got mine at the end of May. Submitted expedited on April 3.

Mine(expedited) came ups. Granted, I got the shipping notification a day after it arrived, but it was the ups man who delivered it.
