Has anyone received this message before:

"February 26, 2018, 9:37 pm
Delivery status not updated
The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. The delivery status for this item has not been updated as of February 26, 2018, 9:37 pm."

My package was moving along fine, was out for delivery, then this...

I have a bad feeling this isn't going to end well for me Mad

I got that notification for a shipment recently - it was due to weather-related travel delays.
The package was a day late, but I got it without any problems.

I had one. I think they lost track of it momentarily, but it showed up about when expected.

Yup, I just mailed something to my Mom, 2 day. She asked about it a week later, I felt bad KI forgot to let her know I sent it. Looked it up, exact same message. The 2 day delivery took 2 weeks...

At least it didn't go to the ISC. That is where good packages go to die.

Nope. Usually it shows in transit or some other falsehood. Glad to see USPS is being honest. Nice change.

I'd say about 95+ percent of the time the USPS tracking is highly accurate, but I've had a few times where the tracking number shows some kind of unknown status all the way up until it arrives in the mailbox. I haven't had a tracked package lost yet, either sending or receiving.

Yes. Just this week for a holster coming from Georgia showed to be delivered on Monday but when it didn’t make it Monday I got that message. It arrived Wednesday.

Yes. Like the others said it has to due with weather, or in some cases transportation or personal issues. They some times get so busy they can't finish the work at the regional processing centers.

I'm going through this now! 2 separate items, BOTH cannot seem to make it to my post office. Both missing their delivery dates. I'm over 5 days from expected delivery for my first item even though its in my city and has been for 48 hours. The second item missed its window today and tracking still shows it hasn't even arrived in my city...Whats going on?! No weather going on here other than rain.

Both items firearm related....does big brother have it out for us?

They're holding it for a Sunday overtime delivery. Big Grin

I had auto parts go astray from Amazon this week. The USPS tracking shows it got to my post office on the 22nd, but never got to me.

I took the tracking number down there today, they ran the package and said "No, see this... it never got here, we never scanned it in." Of course I was looking at gibberish, it didn't mean anything to me. Later I see that it looks like the stop before was the PO in the next town, about three miles away! You'd think they'd at least called over there. I guess I go there tomorrow. Though I wouldn't be shocked if it showed up sunday as more and more things do, seemingly no matter when they get to the post office.

I've learned a lot about the USPS "tracking" system. I want to state outright that our regular mail carrier is great- my problems have been with the substitution carriers.

So I was expecting a package Wednesday. This info was in tracking-

Only problem is, I watched the delivery person drive up to the mailbox and they made no effort to come to the house and left nothing in the mailbox concerning the package. According to USPS tracking, it would not be delivered and I had to either contact the PO or pick it up myself.

I tried calling the post office (no answer) and gave up and finally drove there. Spoke to a supervisor and it seems our regular mail carrier person was out yesterday and our delivery route was split between two other substitute delivery carriers. Supposedly the one who DIDN’T service our address got our package vs. the one who came by our house. Because of this it was unable to be delivered.

Here’s the problem- This is the third time in about two months packages have failed to get to our house (for the same reason). The concern about it is that in the case of the first two, one was delivered to the wrong house and the other sent on the wrong delivery route.
In both of those cases the USPS tracking said “delivered”, even though we had not received the packages. In both of those cases I called the post office and they quickly resolved what happened and straightened things out.

In this situation the USPS tracking said an "attempt was made to deliver and notice was left", which was obviously impossible because the physical package was with another carrier.

What’s important- If I tried to file a claim because of failure to receive either of the first two packages, the USPS would deny the claim because their tracking system said the packages were delivered.

In this case I watched the mail delivery person NOT leave notice which the system claimed had been performed.

Dunno how you can fix this, just be aware and keep an eye on anything you are expecting-

This is why I went to the post office yesterday. When I still had my business and was shipping revolver cylinders a couple times a week, in eleven years of doing it, 99% of all the "it still hasn't gotten here" complaints I got were because of this. They didn't leave the package, nor did they leave any notification that they ever tried. So the stuff would sit at the PO for days or weeks without anyone knowing it was there. The only upside was that it happened so often that I stopped worrying when the complaints came, I just told people to go pick it up.

Yes I've gotten that message, but I got the package first. Smile USPS, what a bunch of jokers.

I got that message last year when they lost a package INSIDE the local PO, they couldn't find it and they wouldn't honor their insurance on Priority Mail either so I was out $60.

USPS is usually pretty good about delivery, just gotta be patient.

I know there are good USPS employees but like every other gov't thing they are filled to to gills with idiots. Like most of the gov't USPS is a welfare payment posing as a job.
