Agreed, been totally drunk and something like that was never in my universe of thought. They're lucky one is not at room temperature.

Cannot say I am surprised. I remember such incidents from years ago. And the knowledge/intelligence of the general population continues to decline.

If one is drinking, no reason to be handling firearms. If one is drunk, it goes triple. Then we have the idea of an intentionally loaded gun, shouting for trouble.
People do stupid stuff, nothing more needed to explain it.

I don't have a link, but I read this story years ago and I swear I'm not making it up. A drunk got to wondering what it felt like to get shot, how bad did it hurt? So he got his .22 pistol, took off his shoe and sock, and shot himself in the foot.
He didn't think it hurt that bad.
But it was just a .22. So he went and got his 9mm, and shot himself in the same foot. That hurt, but not that bad. Not too bad at all.
So he went and got his .45, shot himself in the same foot and called 911, cause it hurt like a sumbitch.

When I was a kid there was a old house that they were demolishing we got a bunch of the old boards and pipe and built a few “forts” in the nearby woods. We found some pipe that we found that a golf ball would just fit, we would drive the pipe in the ground at a angle and use them as mortars (pipe/cherry bomb=mortar) we would have wars between forts. No one got killed but there were a few kids who got bumps and bruises and a bunch of old boards with golf ball sized holes.

This is (sadly) in my neck of the woods.
A little while back, one of these same dumbasses (Ferris) strolled into my favorite bar with a freaking sword strapped on, and couldn't understand why the owner told him to get the hell out.
That bar has since altered their ""No outside food or drink allowed" sign, which now reads: "No outside food or drink or swords allowed".
