On 7 Feb 2018 Officer David Sherrard of the Richardson Police Department was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex. Another man was killed and the shooter is in custody.

Officer Sherrod was one of several RPD officers who performed off-duty uniformed service at my church on Sunday mornings, and the congregation is deeply affected by his passing. Prayer blankets were prepared and given to family members and a fund to defray some expenses was set up (to which I did make a contribution).

Prayers for the family are welcome.

I am curious. How come everyone else's posts of this nature get so much more activity than this one? Do I need to post a news article?

I grew up in Richardson and it's a real shock when you hear about a Police Officer being killed in your home town. My brother has a friend who is a Richardson Police Officer and he was not on duty that night , but said it has really shook up the whole department. That is why they are going to have the Plano police handle the investigation. Prayers definitely sent.

ORC, I know, and there have been way too many such incidents lately. I'm sure that the family appreciates all the prayers offered in their behalf.
