Do No Harm, Do Know Harm |
Got cold last night. Was about to order a Zippo hand warmer on Amazon but the reviews were not very good. Seems like they have changed something and they don't work as well. Any suggestions for good a good hand warmer? I keep the air-activated ones handy, but would like to get something better. I have something very close to the Zippos, but made in Germany. I have used them for about 14 years now maybe 15 to 20 times each season. They have worked great for me, love them. Unfortunately they have no name on them, just made in Germany. Sorry, not very helpful. Keep Americans working, buy American made!

Have you ever looked into the battery operated gloves. You can buy a fairly thin pair that will keep your hands toasty warm while maintaining dexterity.

I personally prefer the disposable ones. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. "If dogs don't go to Heaven, I want to go where they go" Will Rogers The definition of the words we used, carry a meaning of their own...

I have a couple of the Zippos. They may not be as good as the one I had 30 years ago but they still work fine. I use them a lot for late season duck hunts. That's about the best I've ever found. Second to that are the Zippos. I use them when out in the woods in cold weather and when snowplowing. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

I always load up with the hot hands before every season. I buy lots and use several each day. A couple in my pockets to keep my hands warm, and when sitting I’ll throw a few under my shirt to help ward off the cold. Have you tried using the body warmers instead of the little hand warmers? Quite the difference in output. ----------The weather is here I wish you were beautiful----------

The zippo works great for me. I have 2, the first was the larger size. It worked so well I wanted one for each pocket and accidentally bought a smaller one. It still works, but not near as much heat as the larger one.

I use them, too. I don't stock up, though. https://hothands.com/ "I'm yet another resource-consuming kid in an overpopulated planet raised to an alarming extent by Hollywood and Madison Avenue, poised with my cynical and alienated peers to take over the world when you're old and weak!" - Calvin, "Calvin & Hobbes"

I have these reusable warmers that contain super saturated sodium, and a little metal clicker. You boil them to melt the solution, then cool them and it remains liquid. When you need the heat, click the button and it begins to turn solid and gives impressive heat for quite some time (depends on the size of the bag). I got a kit of various sizes a while back (IRC it was around 90 bucks) but they've more than paid for themselves compared to the disposable ones. I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

I've got a couple of those, but bigger. Been using one on my back the last week or so. Just too much trouble with the smaller ones for not long enough (I work 10 hour shifts). I ordered a zippo, I'll give it a try and see. What's the Rosey? I couldn't find anything on it. I used to have (still do somewhere in a box in my storage unit) a little red velvet-covered metal rectangular box that would hold a charcoal or similar substance about 4" long stick. Light that sucker on fire and it would smolder and keep you nice and warm. My wife just got home from her beach vacation. She is well equipped for hand-warming. I'll try the techniques and report. Edit: Ha! They still make the kind I was talking about. Wish I had bought this instead of the zippo now. I'll try the zippo and get one of these if I'm disappointed. https://www.military1st.com/cs...cEAQYASABEgLh6vD_BwE Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Ahhh. No wonder I couldn't find it, I'm going blind. Coincidentally, I just shaved my palms. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.
