Hey - could one of you AZ Ren Fest aficionados tell me what the grounds are like in terms of surface(s)?

Mrs.BurtonRW and I will be paying a surprise visit on opening weekend to a dear friend from our MD Ren Fest whose home is AZ. Mrs.BurtonRW is concerned about choice of footwear. Is it paved? Dirt? Grass? Rock? A mix of any or all of the above?

Thanks in advance.

Grew up in AA County.

Live just down the road from the Arizona Renaissance Festival - been many times. Not my thing, but the females like it. If you want to be their knight, you go. It is fun - I must admit.

Surface is predominantly hard packed dirt, that can get a bit mucky if it rains (not a typical problem) mixed with rock.

Recommend closed-toe, comfortable shoes. Tennis shoes or hiking shoes.

Go at opening. There is a program of shows throughout the day - if you come at noon - you'll miss some good stuff.

The traffic will suck. Pee before you go.

Bring camera and video.

I'm on the eastern seaboard on contract - otherwise I'd join you.
