Steak and kidney pie
I’ve long wondered about this British dish. Sounds good, but I’ve never tried it. Any personal experience on the forum? Maybe tac will chime in…

A bit of research…

“Steak and kidney pie is a popular British dish. It is a savoury pie filled principally with a mixture of diced beef, diced kidney (which may be beef, lamb, veal, or pork) and onion. Its contents are generally similar to those of steak and kidney puddings. …”

And a 7:30 YouTube video that’s quite good. The lady speaks clearly, quantities are specified, and procedures are generally clear:

And, of course, there’s online for a desperate situation:

Absolutely! As a translated Brit-Can-American we seek it out where we can. Not much in the States but we have a British Pub in Canada where we stop for lunch when we are EnRoute to family, that sometimes has steak and kidney. Also Liver, onion & bacon with lots of brown gravy and mashed potatoes. Also a Scottish Pub in the Lehigh valley that has lots of British comfort foods on the menu. Wife makes a good selection at home and daughter/SIL make same in Canada. Now I am hungry...

Sounds offal.

It sounds all right if you don't know what's in it, I guess.

My grandmother used to make kidney pie on occasion. I never tried it because the whole house smelled like an unflushed urinal.

I worked on several Greek crewed ships over the years as a service engineer. I drew the line at fried sheep's brains, but not at retsina or Ouzo...
