Simple thing yet it seems to work for many: When you make your bed put a open bar of soap ( bath size, non-odor) in the knee region between the 2 of you. Replace every 2-3 weeks with a new bar and put the 'used' one in the shower. My best guess is that a chemical out-gassed by the soap works somehow to alleviate the leg cramps. It either works within a few days or you are onto another plan. Do not necessarily attribute someone's nasty or inappropriate actions as intended when it may be explained by ignorance or stupidity.

Gabapentin works for RLS. That was maddening, went to the doc, he prescribed it.

Have suffered it real bad for over 45 years due to spinal injury from a motorcycle accident. In fact I sitting here at 3AM because my legs are jumping so bad I can't sleep. There are a lot of medicines out there that will help. All are some form of muscles relaxers. Unfortunately, most GPs don't fully understand RLS and how to treat it effectively so you may need to see a neurologist. The best medicine to treat RLS are the same medicines use to treat Parkinson's. If you wish to discuss it further or get the name of some of the better meds I've taken my email is in my profile. I have it. I don’t take meds, but rather gently rub my feet together or on the sheets as I go to sleep. The movement keeps them from jumping too much and allows me to fall asleep, unfortunately also rubs holes in the sheets over the years. Had it for as long as I can remember.

Have you been tested for sleep apnea? I have been working in the field for twenty plus years. I have seen "restless legs" disappear after being diagnosed with sleep apnea, and the use of a CPAP. Sigs P-220, P-226 9mm, & P-230SL (CCW)

Try Dr. Bergs Electrolyte Powder. Potassium may be the culprit as well as other underlying issues such as insulin resistance or vitamin B1 deficiency.

My episodes are infrequent. I sometimes have them while sitting but mostly while in bed. I've never found a way to stop it but for some reason it happens way more in the winter. There's something about being cold that makes it worse. I feel for anyone that suffers from it. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

Get it properly diagnosed. Requip and Mirapex are effective in most cases.

I’ve had it for many years. Tried everything I could think of. It mostly came down to some walking or exercise bike or hot water in a jet bath tub. I finally gave up and I am now taking .25 generic requip (ropinirole) I take 3 a day morning then around 5pm then last an hour before bed. It hasn’t completely stopped it from happening but it has helped with time and intensity. I trial and error the times, I found if I take that 5pm one to early or to late the nighttime one is not enough to help and I’m exercising until midnight. I started on them in February. I’ll be talking to dr. about possibly increase the dosage. She started me on low dose to see if it helped.

Just wait a week for the side effects (coma) to subside. Then it is all strawberries and rainbows. (Referring to 900 mg/day)

Are you on Lipitor or other statin drugs? I know a couple of guys who feel sure that statin drugs caused them to have Restless Leg Syndrome.

Tonic water. It contains quinine. A well respected doctor from AGH in Pittsburgh advised my 80 year old mother. It works for her. A couple of ounces before bedtime.

I have noticed that it is really bad if I try to sleep on my back, but gets better if I am laying on my stomach. I tend to sleep on my stomach in a position similar to a prone shooting position as that works best. “You can have peace. Or you can have freedom.
