So, Kentucky Utilities had a black Hughes 500MD and was flying power lines. Dude sees the black helicopter, and shoots it down with an AR. He then gets into a gun battle with sheriff's deputies. At the same time, KSP sent in a helicopter to rescue the downed KU aircrew, dude shoots up KSPs bird. KSP SRT gets there in a Bearcat, he decides he doesn't want none, and gives up. Judge Executive Alex Barnett identified the suspect as Thomas Field Van Meter. Van Meter was at the center of a long manhunt in Cynthiana. Harrison County Schools canceled classes on Tuesday for safety reasons. The schools were on lockdown Monday as police searched for a suspect they say shot at a helicopter. The Harrison County Sheriff says the gunman also shot at two or three deputies. No one was injured. He was eventually found Tuesday morning on a farm where police had been searching. Police say he had two guns on his person at the time of the arrest. Van Meter is facing four attempted murder charges. He will be taken to the Bourbon County Detention Center. Another article Four attempted murder charges were filed Tuesday against a man accused of firing shots at a helicopter and police. After he was found Tuesday, Thomas Field VanMeter, 39, was taken hours later to the Bourbon County jail. The attempted murder charges include two counts of attempted murder of a police officer. VanMeter is accused of firing at Kentucky Utilities helicopter checking power transmission lines Monday and deputies who pursued him. ADVERTISING VanMeter asked officers to let him make a statement to the media as he was being taken from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office to the jail. Police instead put him in a vehicle for the drive. The investigation has reportedly been taken over by the Scott County sheriff’s office since Harrison deputies were also fired on. The helicopter carrying a utility employee and a contracted pilot was struck multiple times, said Chris Whelan, vice president of communications for Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities. Both escaped unharmed after the helicopter landed safely. During the search for VanMeter, residents were urged to keep their homes locked and Harrison County schools closed. The sheriff’s office described VanMeter as “armed and dangerous.” VanMeter is the son of noted consignor and former veterinarian Tom VanMeter. “I really can’t talk about it,” the elder VanMeter said. “We’re just grateful that he has been safely taken in to custody and that no one was hurt.” Read more here: http://www.kentucky.com/news/s...1.html#storylink=cpy

No helicopters matter! Always lazing about, just a few feet off the ground, and forcing us to listen to their beating rotors. Get a job!

Funny thing is I never heard of this. I'm about 30 miles from the Jefferson county line. I might have missed it. But never heard of it. What a whack job! ARman
