My little buddy went missing

ElKabongMy little buddy went missing
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.
No good news, we’ve searched the “downhill” wooded areas close to he house, it’s mainly subdivisions with small patches of woods in between. With his age I’m guessing he would gravitate downhill if he was lost.
My hope is someone has found him. We’re checking with local shelter, gave out flyers, and have talked to as many neighbors as we can.
It feels like I’m not doing enough, like I should be out there right now looking for him, even though I know if he is lost in the woods it’s probably already too late. If he was a younger dog, maybe I’d feel different.
The wife had recently broached the subject of putting him down at some point, when his quality of life was too bad. He was to the point of me having to pick him up at the front stoop to get back in the house, but made a little recovery and had resumed doing it on his own.
He also had a bad dry cough constantly, which the vet said was a bad sign (my wife works for a large animal vet), but at his age we were probably past trying to treat it.
I had started fixing him an egg and sneaking him some real bacon for breakfast every morning about a month ago. It just felt like I shouldn’t deny him his favorite treats at the end of his life.
The wife was always trying to keep extra weight off of him, and me too. It worked on him, not so much on me.
I’m going to resume searching in the morning.
I quit school in elementary because of recess.......too many games

I know you feel pain right now, that's clearly obvious. Give yourself a break from the self doubts.
You shouldn't beat yourself up with coulda, wouldas and 'if onlys'.
You didn't abandon you dog, he went missing. It happens.
IT FUCKING SUCKS! I know, it happened to me but it happens.

SpinZoneI'm sorry for your missing buddy and I hope you find him well.
I hate to ask this but have you search up close? Sometime our friends know when it is time and to spare us the pain will go find a place to pass. Under a porch, in a corner of the garage, under a bed.

Skins2881If it's worst case scenario, I'm happy you got to spoil him a bit. Still praying he turns up.

konata88I hope he is back home soon.
I wonder if there is a small GPS type of chip that can be attached to dog collars and use an app like Find My Phone. Seems like the technology is capable.

There are a number of options. As with anything there are pros and cons. I suspect battery life would be a major issue.

This was my thought as well. I hope you find him safe and sound. But he might of left to find somewhere to go to pass on. I can't imagine the worry and pain if my "boy" came up missing like this.
