Don't know how many of you are living in Nevada, but Newsom 2.0 just stated he wants to ban AR rifles among other gun regulations. We've got a new legislative session coming in January, so be advised.

The Miller decision explicitly stated that the 2nd Amendment protects the right to own firearms suitable for militia use. Since short barreled shotguns were not in common military use at the time, SCOTUS ruled that they are not protected and NFA regulations are constitutional.

Note this decision was made before select fire rifles were standard issue for Military and National Guard. And LONG before the standard issue rifle had a 14.5" barrel.

No matter how you cut it, the 2nd amendment protects arms for the militia, which is ALL OF US.

The idea that "weapons of war" are not protected by the 2nd is asinine. The entire point was to guaranty military arms to civilians for use against "all enemies, foreign and domestic".
