I did earlier in the day. I was one of two people in there. I live in Loudoun county, 70% crazy liberals. Empty polling place bodes well for us.

Voted a couple hours ago. Only thing on the ballot was congressional rep. Easy choice between the guy with the proven track record and the socialist twit that’s lost something like four in a row.

When asked for my identification, I handed the official my Utah Non-resident Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP).

What a kerfuffle ensued. In the end, despite black letter reading of the kinds of ID accepted that says "Any other identification issued by a government entity" the head official stilled phoned the Registrar of Elections for an OK.

So, if you live somewhere with a voter ID law, take the most unusual form of iD you have.

I thought we liked voter ID laws?

And why make it hard on the poll workers? Sure, they are supposed to accept any government ID. But they aren't well trained, experienced, and are afraid of making a mistake. Why give them an ID that will make waves if you have your regular driver's license? It will just make work, and take up time.

Because how hard is it to read on the paper sitting in front of them that says “Any other identification issued by a government entity"?

And doubly because the line preceding that one read “Identification issued by a nursing home” and the one after it that says you can attest on the spot that you can vote in that precinct.

Until we define the ID accepted as one actually meaning something, I’ll continue my protest against not having positive, government-issued identification requirements.

It shouldn’t have been a question.

My wife is a poll worker, and she has shared the stories of bureaucratic red tape and the inability of the local polling people to make decisions. They don't have any power, just a bunch of rules and no discretion. They aren't all that well trained, and while they all mean well, they are mostly a bunch of older people trying to be of service. They don't have any stroke, or even much of a connection to the actual decision makers. They come in and work for a week or two, and are gone until the next election.

Your "protest" is not going to help the problem get ironed out. It is just going to give the people at the polling place a headache, waste their time and yours, and delay other people trying to vote.

You're not "protesting" in a useful way. It is just kind of petty thumbing of your nose at the process. Call it a protest if you like, but it isn't.

Call the election supervisors in your county, precinct, or whoever is in charge. Write them letters. Call your state legislator. Try the state election agency in your state. That may help.

My wife and I voted for the first time in our new state of NC. There were a bunch of races from the Senate and Congress all the way down to Water Commissioner.

We voted a straight Republican ticket and I was voter # 384. It took all of 10 minutes so easy peasy.
