How’s her health/she live alone? What if something happens and she needs medical help in the middle of the night? Now EMS could potentially be left with trying to break in.

This would not just be an issue with a locked interior but also an exterior door.

Fortunately there is a solution. Allow me to present the Knox Box. You've seen them on businesses. Well they are also available for private residences. Buy. Mount. Call. The fire department come out and lock a key inside. Only they have the key to open the Knox Box, so they won't have to break down any door in an emergency.

Even if a bad guy has a key, there are far more tempting commercial targets and probably easier ways to break into a home. These things are built like a tank.

Also consider that it doesn't take much effort to bust through a sheetrock wall either.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned an Alarm system. This would probably be the best deterrent.

No, not really. An alarm is only as good as the speed of the response. When LE gets alarm calls, they get pretty low priority.

She needs something that, if an attacker tries to break in, will slow them down until she can arm herself (if that's viable in this situation) and/or get a call off to 911. Live call from people claiming that a break in is in process get high priority. But she still has to be able to keep the attackers out, or be able to defend herself until LE gets there.

I hope that she does not live in the City of Dallas. Please tell me that she lives in another jurisdiction.

Any chance she likes dogs? A good rehomed mastiff, great dane or german shepard might just eliminate the problem altogether.
