All,

I’d like to issue an apology for any undue stress which I may have caused by the content of my posts. I did something which I try very hard not to do, and that is to paint a large group of people as a whole for things that a small number of that group may have done.

I know that the majority of the Chicago PD are good people who are under paid, over worked, and underappreciated.

Please accept my sincerest apology!

Beltfed

beltfed21, thank you.

Please recognize that the progressive Dimocraps DA and media are anti-police and will always push their narrative. Later on, well away from the Headline News, you may find an article on the rest of the story. For example, in 2017 4 St. Louis City Officers were indicted and arrested for allegedly falsifying their overtime forms, all by the progressive anti-cop DA. All officers were fired (standard when charged or indicted). So no jobs, no money coming in, and the DA expected them to take a plea bargain so the Da would have some "convictions" to please her anti-police base. The officers refused and requested a trial. In 2018 the cases came up for trial.....but the DA asked the Judge for more time. Her reason (google Kim Gardener, she is almost as bad as Kim Foxx in Chicago), the prosecution didn't actually have any evidence other than the false time sheets. BTW, the four officers where working undercover in Task Forces (1 in FBI and other 3 in DEA) and had been told to turn in incorrect time sheets because there had been numerous leaks on who was undercover to the gangs and thugs from St. Louis City employees in the Finance Department. So based on this information, the Judge blow up on the DA and dismissed all cases. Yes, the old adage is true, you can indict a ham sandwich, just have to eventually back it up in a trial. The indictments and charges were all big news and on the front page for a couple weeks. The end result? I only heard about it through cop channels, it was a page 8 story here.

It has happened in other places,Baltimore for example. The officers involved in the Freddy Gray case. The DA lied about the case, got exorbitant bonds on the officers, tried to continue the cases forcing the officers to lose more money, all while trying to get quick plea bargains. Those cases fell apart once they were in a courtroom.

From this weekend in the Windy City. I also read that one hospital was so overwhelmed that it wasn't accepting new patients for a time. I was assuming I'd probably read a story about Beto O'rourke on the verge of tears when discussing the problems of Chicago but I couldn't find any.

Yup. Not to seem heartless, but on some level gun violence is just another natural consequence of a free society. We as a society can make things safer, but not without destroying freedoms in the process. Think how much safer the roads would be if we had a maximum national speed limit of 20 MPH, yet there's no outcries for this solution to automobile deaths and carnage.

Or at the very least make cars harder to drive to cut down on them.

Beltfed, I accept your apology.

Cops can tolerate a lot of things. We, over the years develop a high tolerance for things most people can't/ won't. Ask any officer you know how well they tolerate a dirty cop. It's one of those times where we have no problem tossing one of our own under the bus.

All cops rest on one thing. It's not the badge, the handcuffs, the uniform, the gun... It's our integrity. Our honesty. If that is broken, you're pretty much useless as an officer.

Again, Beltfed, accepted.
If I'm ever out in your neck of the woods, I have no problem buying a few drinks for us!

Chuck, Glad to hear! But no way on the drinks..... They're on me!

You do realize that I live about half way between you and jsbcody. We might just have to do a meet up for shooting, steaks and then the drinks.

Stay safe!

I understand the tragic events in Dayton and ElPaso overshadow things, but...

FOUR separate mass shooting incidents in one day.
Did that make any of your local news feeds?

Like I said, it’s become expected here. No one bats an eye.

And no one knows a single victims name. It's like those people never existed....

Never fear, the BBC is running an article now on America's 'gun culture'. It's chock full of super factual gems like this chart:

So, there's a mod that makes a semi auto AR have a higher rate of fire than a fully auto M16? Good thing I didn't waste that 15k on a full auto rifle.

Fifty rounds a minute with my LCR. I am impressed. Jerry Miclechek might do it. I guess it is the FULL AUTO LCR model.
