Silly, but how to fix squeaky boots?
New pair of Lowa Zephyer GTX lows. Fit great. But they squeak when I walk. About a month old.
Lowa says return them but I don't want to go through the whole return thing.
Thought about putting them on, stepping in a bucket, and letting them dry?
Any suggestions?

The squeaky boot gets the grease!

I'd suggest sandpaper or a light file to rough up the soles.

Have a pair of Lowa's hikers and they squeaked while I was elk hunting. Put different laces on them and they squeak no more

If it's in the upper some Obenauf's may help. Squeaking from the lower may be a manufacturing problem in layers of material that haven't bonded correctly. That problem may not go away with age and cause continued problems and premature failure.
I would do a search to see if this is a common complaint indicating a manufacturing problem.
Get them to send a return label and through them back in the box.

Certain insoles tend to squeak. Take the insoles out and put foot powder in the bottoms of the boots and on the bottoms of the insoles, then put the insoles back in.

Squeaking is indeed from his improperly bonded materials and can happen with any manufacturers products. I have a couple of pairs of agency issued Danner Combat Hikers. One pair squeaks, one pair does not. Both are great, solid performers otherwise. Nothing that I’m aware of can be done to fix the issue without rebuilding them.

Good to know!

And it makes me wonder: I had a nice pair of Trask boots re-soled a while back, and they've squeaked since. Think I could have that sole removed and replaced and become squeak-free?

THIS
Having sold footwear on the wholesale side for 20+ years, this is an unfortunate aspect of current footwear build processes when soles that are glued on. Lowa Zypher is a very sold style, every once in awhile, it happens. See if it's the footbed or, laces, if that doesn't work, I'd get them exchanged ASAP.

Mr. Chessman would always offer to sell you shoes and make payments on them ,

the expensive shoes never squeaked,
the less expensive ( not as well made ) shoes
almost always squeaked .

He gave you a month to pay for the shoes , while you wore them .
Then magically ,on the very day that you came in to pay them off,
they would stop the noise.

he would ask to see the shoes and then take them in the back to clean/shine them ,

turns out that he would also put talc inside them.

after you purchased three pair of shoes from him ,
he would sell you the better shoe's on time payments , to avoid the embarrassment of
allowing others to know that you had to buy shoes on the time payment meathod
