airsoft guyAlong the rim on the bottom there should be stamps for the manufacturer. I
think it may be a British Mark 1 but it's hard to tell.

PatriotOriginal WWII Dated British Brodie Steel Helmet in OD Green - Genuine WW2
You can get them on Amazon for $109
The seamed edges and butterfly hold down on the chin strap tab are a dead giveaway.

sigfreundKeep in mind that although it has nothing to do with exact identification as in this case, at the start of WWII US military helmets were similar in general appearance.

It's already been answered.

It's a WW1-era British Brodie Mk. 1 helmet. As stated, the split tabs on the chinstrap bails are the giveaway. WW1-era US P17s and WW2-era British Mk. 2s had rivets.

It sat in the garage of my grandparents' house for a long, long time. My aunt found it in her quest to do some flower art for her garden club. My great grandfather was a personal bodyguard to the King of Sweden and my grandfather worked in a shipyard as a welder. Not sure if either served during WW1 or how they came into possession of it.

RogueJSKSweden never used the Brodie helmet, but Norway did from WW1 up through WW2, purchasing their helmets from Britain.
A number of both British and Norwegian soldiers fled over the border into Sweden following the German invasion and occupation of Norway in 1940, where they were interned and their equipment seized. So that's one possible route of acquisition of a British/Norwegian military helmet for someone with Swedish ties.

Thanks for the response- the snippet about your great grandfather is cool- being a bodyguard to a king is a fascinating story itself.
