My current road and triathlon bikes are Craigslist buys. Over 10K miles with them and they're just fine.

If you want new, try this one. Raleigh Cadent 2 I bought this for a local missionary. My bike snob friend ($3-10K bikes) put it together and was impressed with the value (bang for buck).

Love my Electra Bikes. Very comfortable, well made and priced right. Especially used. One of mine is 12 years old.

Check out a clean used bike, and also check out a new Raleigh bike on Amazon.

I had a ladies MTB shipped to my door via Amazon for $289 last week for my daughter.
Very impressed with the quality and feel for the meager $289 cost.

Very easy assembly (only had to put on the front wheel snd handlebars, seat and post, and light adjustment on the shifting. (45 mins and done).

A quick search shows you can get it for $289 shipped from Raleigh direct to your door.

Eva 24? I bought one for my daughter a year ago and it is a good bike for the money.

There's a number of Raleighs that would fit the bill for the OP.

I got her the Eva 2 with 27.5” wheels. She loves it.
