Ryanp225WOW! That must have been really scary. I know how you must have felt. My daughter rolled an ATV a few years back while the two of us were all alone up in the mountains. Luckily, she only suffered a bad laceration on an elbow and a hematoma on her thigh. The bad part was her elbow was packed full of gravel so it was a long night at the ER.
After getting her packed into the truck and on our way back into town I had to make the phone call to her mother. Now that was truly the hard part!

IntrepidTravelerAll,
Thank you for the good wishes. A quick update....
She has been recovering steadily since the accident. She is *almost* self-sufficient mobile now, with assistance of a walker. Her arm is in a short cast now (hand to mid-forearm). And her spirits are good. Docs told her she'd be out of school for probably another 3-4 weeks as of now, and they are very impressed with how quickly she is recovering. School is working with her so she doesn't miss anything (with the exception of one teacher).
I remain very thankful for everything and everyone. Braillediver, yeah it is hard being an adult sometimes. If it had to happen, I am glad I was there. Bytes, yes, we do appear to be a stand-up family. You never know until something bad happens. That's when true character and love come out.

IntrepidTravelerThree weeks later...
This was the first time I saw her in person since the accident weekend. (I work in SC and only get home to NM about once a month or so.)
Her progress has been nothing short of amazing. When I finally saw her, she all but jumped up off the couch. Well, OK, I exaggerate a little, but she did get up unaided and walked around using just a cane. We went to church on Sunday, and she walked to and from the car, up a handful of steps. She could probably get by without using the cane, but the docs say she still needs to use it to bear weight, and she shouldn't be standing for long periods of time (more than a couple of minutes). More than that, she's in good spirits, and her support system - extended family, to include Mom, Dad, Step-Mom, Nana (grandmother), brothers, sisters, step-siblings - is fantastic.
Thanks once again for your thoughts and prayers.
