We would be better off if she switched parties. She always sabotages any conservative movement forward.

I suppose if she had voted yea to put in decent judges then she is a tad better than a dem in her place. That said, she is as swampy as they come and I hope after McConnell retires that her days in the senate are short indeed.

McConnell made sure she got a lot of money for her election in 2022 to make sure her conservative republican party challenger would not prevail instead. Plus some bizarre way they elect people in Alaska. It all stunk. McConnell could have sent that money to a couple other extremely close senate races instead and very likely cost the republicans control of the senate but his hatred of Trump is so deep.

'With ranked choices tabulated on Wednesday, Murkowski got 53.7% of the vote. Kelly Tshibaka, the candidate Trump endorsed, got 46.3%. Murkowski’s total jumped up once Democrat Pat Chesbro was eliminated. Her supporters overwhelmingly backed Murkowski next."

A Republican is going to win the Alaska Senate race, but that hasn’t stopped Mitch McConnell from plowing millions of dollars into the deep-red state.

McConnell allies say he simply wants to protect Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who faces a serious challenge from fellow Republican Kelly Tshibaka. But strategists see a proxy war playing out between McConnell, R-Ky., the Senate minority leader, and his chief antagonist, former President Donald Trump, who is backing Tshibaka.

Ranked choice voting got voted in by a very slim margin on a ballot initiative. Supported by a lot of state funding. So Far Maine is the only other state to adopt it. If it ever comes to your state oppose it. It's how Murkowski got elected with less than 50% of the vote.

The 53.7% is a bullshit number. The original tally was Tshibaka with 44% of the vote and Murkowski with 43% which means 57% of the voters wanted someone other than Murkowski. Since neither one received 50% +1 of the popular vote ranked choice kicked in. Democrat candidates Cheesboro received 10% and Kelly 1%. They were eliminated and the second choice votes of those who originally voted for a democrat candidate were counted giving Murkowski her 53.7%.

It's also how May Peltola was the first ever democrat elected to the House by Alaska since she was running against 2 republican candidates and the other democrat dropped out.

Former Alaska resident here.

Murkowski has proven over the years that she is shameless when it comes to her and her father's cronies (he used to be governor of Alaska) hitting the remote villages and making huge promises as if she could bring home the pork like Ted Stevens.

I'm surprised she isn't a full blown Democrat as she didn't get her own job until she was 53 years old. The first job she actually got on her own was in the 2010 election where she won the successful write-in campaign she won by 2010 votes with lots of irregularities (earlier in the year she lost the primary). Prior to that, Daddy got her every single job including appointing her as a US Senator in 2002.

Uh...no. Think of the words "majority party." They elect the majority leader and control committees.

Yes they are, and likely you're seeing these defections and withdrawal as a means to help flip congress D so if DJT wins he'll be a lame duck for all 4 years and unable to get any meaningful legislation done.

We would be better off if her constituents kicked her to the curb and replaced her with a small government conservative whose sole focus is on what is best for the United States of America and her citizens.

She already left the GOP, she just uses the affiliation to get elected in an otherwise right leaning state. Bitch can GTFO.
