An investment in knowledge pays the best interest |
If you haven’t viewed any of Shawn’s videos, I highly recommend it. Basically, Shawn built a cabin homestead in the Canadian outback, after having a successful career and raising two beautiful daughters. He admired Dick Proenneke (Alone in the Wilderness) and has successfully established a brand “Cabin Life” around his own story. Shawn has over 1 million subscribers and his Golden Retriever Cali is a wonderful companion, as you’ll no doubt witness if you watch his channel. I find it very cathartic, especially if you’re into the outdoors and woodworking. Here’s a recap video and you might find yourself relaxing while you watch him & his ever playful Golden, living in the Great Outdoors in the many videos he’s posted over the last two years: https://youtu.be/AxM9FYSs8V4

I've been watching his videos for a couple of months now. I think I'm living vicariously through him. Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice. ʘ ͜ʖ ʘ

Been watching for a while now. His work is pretty inspirational. If I get a nicely wooded place when I leave this state I would like to build a blockhouse.

The arctic trails have their secret tales, That would make your blood run cold. The northern lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, I cremated... Shawn James. The dude has skills, no doubt, but it has to be a hard existence. And if you get hurt, things get serious real quick. The winter would be a real challenge. I've watched a number of his videos. Very enjoyable, but as YooperSigs says if you get hurt you are screwed. Growing up in the UP, I spent as much time as possible out in the wilderness usually alone. I was young then and thought of myself as immortal. Looking back 50 years later, I realize I did some dumb ass things. Rod "Do not approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or a fool from any direction."
