I would recommend these for stripping wire, and it will strip stranded and solid:

And I like these cutters/crimpers by Channelock. Klein and others make similar pliers. For 12 volt insulated and uninsulated terminals, this type works great. AFAIK, you won't be crimping anything doing 110 VAC stuff around the house.
