Rural acreage and people let their animals run loose even though there's lots of livestock around.

The dogs are frequently on my tactacams and I'd like to carry some treats in case they're friendly/marginally socialized.

But nothing like hot dogs or tbones or anything that spoils.

Slim jims? Doggie wafers in a box?

Any such thing as a doggy slam dunk treat? That I can carry in my tactical farmer's vest? (Next to bear spray.)

Personally, I doubt the wisdom of encouraging a potentially aggressive dog to associate you with food. Playfulness (e.g throwing a ball or stick for them to fetch), and praise/petting may be a safer option.

The small size Slim Jims even broken in half for two dogs would be convenient and dogs love them. Most dogs like Milk Bones too but they'll get stale over time so store them in an air tight container. My dogs favorite "dog treats" are chicken or turkey jerky from Aldis but they're getting expensive at $5 for a small bag.

These things are puppy crack! I have not seen a dog that doesn't love them! My two gosh nuts for them. I keep them on the school bus to handout to the kid's pups and such. They are reasonably priced, over a pound, and the ingredients aren't that bad.

I buy them by the case usually off Amazon, but Chewy's too. Depending on quality around $4.00something to $5.00something per box.

They are small enough for small dogs, and you can give bigger ones more. But I have never had a dog turn up their nose to them ( unlike other lower costs treats ).

Every day I take my dog for a walk I take an extra Milkbone with me for a poor dog nect door that never gets to go for a walk.
I just give her one through the fence because I feel sorry for her. She loves it.

Milkbone Maro treats. While volunteering or working at a shelter it was rare to find a dog that didn't like them. I've seen many dogs ignore regular Milkbones. They come in a plastic jar with a screw on lid and last a long time. Small size and firm shape makes it easy to carry a bunch in a pocket or pouch.

Milk Bones or Beggin’ Strips

Frugality necessitates I carry Charlie Bears. I go through a 16 ounce bag every week or so. Can be found anywhere but Trader Joes has the best price, though only one flavor.

There is a possible downside to giving a dog a treat. Dogs are smart. Give them a treat and they will remember you. That may result in regular visitation. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Some dogs have allergies. Per my vet chicken is very high on the list.
My dog has to have grain free treats/food.

A little note that probably doesn't apply, but you never know.

When my dog was trained, she was taught to only accept a treat if it was given in the left hand.

The reason being that since most people are right handed, that's the hand they would use.
A little trick to try to prevent someone with less than good intentions from gaining her trust.
The trainer does that with all the dogs they train.

My son's two dogs love the el cheapo dog treats . Look like Milk Bones at a fraction of the price .They'll take a treat from anyone , either hand ...

I've attempted to train my dogs to never accept food or treats from anyone but our family. My last Malinois took to it, the doberman before was good (until the treat was bread), my current dutchigator is just a weirdo, and my training has fell short.

I get that the OP is dealing with dogs on HIS property...but I'd be pissed if someone was feeding treats to my dogs. Then again, I keep my dogs on my own property.
