GWbikerFood poisioning
A Buffalo meat burger at Fuddruckers seven years ago almost did me in. Burger didn't taste quite right but hey, I had eaten them there before, plus I was hungry.
Six hours later came the constant shits and puke.
Then I was off to Tucson Medical Center and later two days in isolation with antibiotics being pumped into me.
I don't know what I had but it was nasty.

Scuba Steve SigIts amazing how our body tells us something is off, but we eat it anyway. About 10 years ago I had some bad fried catfish at a Chinese buffet that took me out pretty well. I had the same though, something wasn't right about this fish, oh well, I'll swallow the bite in my mouth and move on to something else. I haven't been to a Chinese buffet since.

chongosuerteSo far today has improved. Last night I mann-ed up and went in for 4 hours for an extra gig, only because if I didn't the second officer would have lost cash money. I survived, but got right back to it when I came home.
Today has been uncomfortable. Tomorrow I'm going to try to go in for my normal shift, but will stay in the office as much as I can. If it worsens I'll have to come home. For now it's manageable.
Hell...when I had salmonella for 10 days in 2007, I worked 8 of them in a row (before I knew what was going on). I've got this!

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.
Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

CA DuckHunterAnthony's Seafood in Bremrton, WA. Bay shrimp on my salad. My wife had flown up to attend a clients retirement party with me. We took the ferry over to Seattle to do some shopping (her idea). I was starting to feel it a little nauseous and sweaty. I found a chair in a Barnes & Nobles while Mrs. CA did a little more shopping. Suddenly it hit me, and I was like a cartoon character who clamped my hand over my mouth to trap in the vomit..... Didn't work. I'm sure that B&N still has my picture up at the front counter on there 'do not fly list'.
I don't blame Anthony's, I blame the shrimp!

craglawnmanorI hope you get to feeling better soon, chongo.
I have to admit that I've enjoyed the many stories posted, along with the statement that the afflicted person will never go to said establishment ever again.
I'll add my story of a visit to a Boston Market 20+? years ago. Horrible food poisoning. I was oddly sort of happy when the chain filed for bankruptcy. The Nashville location was closed, never to be heard from again...

Nothing like having the shits while wearing a vest and duty belt, and taking calls. I feel for ya. Last time I worked with the flu, some asshole decided to rob the bank...that was a long night!

gearhoundsIt’s probably happened to more people than realized; I’m sure a lot of folks think “stomach virus” rather than food poisoning.
Shits happens.

FredwardHelpful clue-borrow a "pad" from the significant other, preferably one with "wings." Paste it appropriately. That is, if you must work. And carry a spare or two somewhere your co-workers cannot find it.
