Glad the pilot is ok.

That's an expensive afternoon.

Gonna be a long weekend for the unit's leadership and safety personnel...

Yep, I responded to three of those during my time in the Air Force (except all mine were F16’s). Being EOD most of our work was done at the start but we had to hang around in case we were needed.

Thank you, but, ideally, when I ask for a link, I am attempting to make the OP aware of this. I could find those links myself, guys. That wasn't my intent.

Whenever I ask someone for a link, please let them be the one to supply it.

Will be interesting to see what comes of the investigations.

I understand that newbies from flight school can get assigned to a F-22 squadron with no prior experience with other operational fighters. Prior, pilots had to have either flown a F-15 or, -16 and gain some operational experience.

Pretty common process for new aircraft. Initial cadre are experience pilots / aircrew from other platforms, to wring it out, QA the training manuals, etc, etc.

Then they begin taking greenhorns - inevitably one of them screws the pooch, but no more so than experienced hands honestly when you look at data from long periods of time. Historically the most dangerous time for a military pilot is somewhere from 750-1500 hours, give or take. Experienced enough to know some things, but often they make bad decisions by over-estimating what they can do.
