Why no. No thank you.
While from a sales standpoint, this is genius. It’s bound to attract the shoppers of Walmart and frequenters of the laundromat on a grand scale. But my God. This looks awful.

Uh huh. Roll Eyes Free advertising. This is nothing but a gimmick in order to generate buzz about KFC. We need to get wise to this stuff. All a business has to do is pull some kind of stupid stunt like this and we do their advertising for them.

I'll say it again: We need to get wise to this stuff and stop letting these corporate assholes lead us around by the nose. They're playing us like a fiddle.

I like chicken and I like donuts. But NOT together. Sounds gross!

I saw this on an episode of the "Carnival Eats" tv show from a few years ago. It was at a state fair somewhere in the Midwest I believe. I saw this today and thought "Huh. Looks like someone was watching the re-runs."

If that doesn't stop your heart, I don't know what will. I remember years ago we went to a carnival with my sister and her boys. They wanted to try a hamburger/doughnut sandwich. The next year, one had a waffle hamburger and the other had a pancake burger. When they started deep frying sticks of butter, everything and anything is game.

I think I really just want the doughnut ... I haven't had one in over a year at least. Now I am daydreaming about finding a Krispy Kreme with the Hot sign on. Thankfully the closest one is a long way from me.

What happened is the same thing which happens a lot these days. Marketing departments have very few original ideas. The marketing department for KFC or its parent company saw the recent exposure given to two fast food restaurants that sell chicken- Chick-Fil-A and Popeye's. "Oh, it's a war over who has the best chicken sandwich!" People went onto social media and declared their preference. So superficial and silly, but look at all the exposure this "war" was given, and that's nothing but free advertising, delivered by the public.

Ask yourself- can you see an item such as a doughnut chicken sandwich remaining for any length of time on the menu of KFC or any other nationwide fast food chain? Hell, Chick-Fil-A removed cole slaw from their menu because of its sugar content.

Do something silly, get people talking about it, and reap the benefits. That's all this is.

Seems like the sandwich is also a great metaphor for Hollywood.

- Seen it before
- Full of holes
- Will end up raising blood pressure
- While you may be excited prior to eating (watching), you immediately regret doing so after

If I was offered a bite, I'd take it because I've never tried it, but I wouldn't spend money on one. I wouldn't call that a very Type 1 diabetic friendly meal.

Still, I'm betting they will still see short-term success. As soon as that photo was released, thousands of folks went to KFC to buy one.

I did not realize that there is sugar in store-bought cole slaw, mostly because I usually make my own. Easy-peasy, and everybody who has tasted it sings its praises:Mix well, taste, adjust the garlic salt / garlic powder and mayonnaise to taste.

No sugar is used!

Yep, we can add a large number of playa's to that list, actors, politicians, direct access to consumers, the marketers dream....

I did not realize that there is sugar in store-bought cole slaw, mostly because I usually make my own. Easy-peasy, and everybody who has tasted it sings its praises:
  • Cabbage, cut in thin slices, then shredded into a large mixing bowl

  • Some green onion, cut into 1/8" or 1/4" slices

  • A bit of shredded carrot (optional)

  • Sprinkle heavily with garlic salt and / or garlic powder

  • A few healthy sized glops of mayonnaise (Duke's, or course) -- I use straight mayonnaise, my wife goes half and half mayonnaise and yogurt. Either way is good.
Mix well, taste, adjust the garlic salt / garlic powder and mayonnaise to taste.

No sugar is used!

You were saved by Duke's:

"Duke's Mayonnaise
This mayo is extremely popular among keto dieters, thanks to no added sugar . Duke's mayo is free from trans-fats and contains no added sugar. That makes it 100% keto friendly with zero net carbs and 12 grams of healthy fats."

Some mayonnaise does have a small amount of sugar.

I wonder if that's what makes it taste different.

My wife and I were lifetime Hellman's mayonnaise users, never bought anything else. Then one of the grocery stores that we use had Duke's on sale. I knew that there were Duke's fans here on SIGforum, so I gave it a try. Wife and I agreed that there was a noticeable difference in taste, and now we buy nothing but Duke's. Preferably when Publix has a BO-GO sale on it.
