Hello, I am in Argentina, Apple is not officially here so no stores to go to to get things fixed almost painlessly. Wife started a Zoom class twice a week, 4hs each time. Exhausting. To assure a trouble free experience, we bought a MacBook Pro M1, brand new. Was not to be, the unit wouldn't charge the battery past the 44% mark. Second frustrating day I took it back to seller who took it to someone else that declared it a factory issue. Out with the new. Clock ticking, had to buy an Ipad to start the class. Been expecting a replacement for over a week. Deliverable tomorrow.... Where do I look to make sure I won't be getting a refurbished unit? Payed full full price to buy trouble free and now I'm not quite happy and fearing the worse. Since some of you regularly buy Apple refurb, an option not available down here, you might know where to look. Thank you very much. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20

You wouldn't be able to tell from the product itself. There is essentially no difference, and the MBA won't be identified. You can generally tell by the packaging. New comes in a retail box, and refurb comes in a plain white box. I'm almost 100% sure that Apple deals with their warranty claims with new product, not refurb. The only way to get a refurbished product is to buy from the refurbished store at Apple.com. When I had a warranty issue with my iMac, they gave me a brand new machine in a new box. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

Thank you. Apologies if I sound too upset. Bought her an iPhone 12 pro a couple of weeks ago. She wanted one, badly. First she was very happy with it. But had to retrain herself, with some difficulty and little patience. Her last iPhone was a 5s. New unit has issues with speaker and mic being muted whenever the thing feels like it the worse possible opportunity. Only temporary fix is a preventive restart in the morning. iPhone models change, the bugs remain the same. It's a non solved BIG ISSUE. So, we throw some more money at them and buy another expensive headache. So far, the iPad works as advertised. 0-0 "OP is a troll" - Flashlightboy, 12/18/20
